Fox Sports FIRES Mark Sanchez After Getting Stabbed In Indianapolis

Former NFL star turned NFL commentator, Mark Sanchez has been fired from Fox Sports.

Sanchez previously made headlines after being stabbed in Indianapolis last month.

However, shortly after he was released from the hospital an investigation revealed he allegedly attacked the truck driver who stabbed him first and was later charged with a felony.

News Nation reported more on Sanchez’s firing:

Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has been let go from his job at Fox Sports a month after being charged with a felony over an alleged stabbing incident.

Sanchez is no longer with the network, a Fox Sports spokesperson told People Magazine on Friday.

“We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network. There will be no further comment at this time,” the spokesperson said.

The former New York Jets quarterback was hospitalized when he was allegedly stabbed by a truck driver in downtown Indianapolis on Oct. 4.

The truck driver, Perry Tole, said he was acting in self-defense, claiming that the former Fox News analyst attacked him in an alley.

Following his release, Sanchez was arrested on Oct. 5 and charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a felony, and battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication that endangers the life of another, all misdemeanors.

CNN reported Fox Sports has already replaced Sanchez with another former NFL Quarterback:

Fox Sports has let go of NFL analyst Mark Sanchez and hired Drew Brees in his place.

“We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network. There will be no further comment at this time,” a Fox Sports spokesman told The Associated Press on Friday.

Sanchez has been off the air since police said he was stabbed during a fight with a truck driver outside an Indianapolis hotel on October 4. He was in Indianapolis for Fox’s coverage of the October 5 game between the Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders. Sanchez faces a felony battery charge, along with several misdemeanor charges, for what prosecutors have said was a fight over parking. Sanchez and Fox Sports also face a civil lawsuit filed by the driver, 69-year-old Perry Tole.

Brees will replace Sanchez on Fox’s No. 4 NFL crew and will team up with play-by-play announcer Adam Amin and sideline reporter Kristina Pink. Brees’ first game will be on November 16.

Brees retired from the NFL following the 2020 season after a 20-year career with the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans, including leading the Saints to their only Super Bowl title during the 2009 season.

He joined NBC in 2021 as an analyst for Notre Dame college football games and was in the studio most Sundays for “Football Night in America.” Brees called a wild-card game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals but noticeably struggled. NBC and Brees parted ways a couple months later.

Brees made a studio appearance during “Fox NFL Sunday” earlier this season and is slated to be an analyst for one of Netflix’s two Christmas Day games.
