The state of Florida has moved forward with a plan to donate a property near downtown Miami for the location of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library.
“I am extremely proud to announce a UNANIMOUS vote by the Florida Cabinet for the conveyance of land for the @realDonaldTrump Presidential Library which will be located in… MIAMI, FLORIDA! It will be the greatest Presidential Library ever built, honoring the greatest President our Nation has ever known,” Eric Trump announced.
“A large thank you to @GovRonDeSantis & @AGJamesUthmeier who have been incredible partners in this endeavor. Consistent with our families DNA, this will be one of the most beautiful buildings ever built, an Icon on the Miami skyline – – rest assured it will not look like President Obama ‘prison like structure,’” he added.

POLITICO shared more:
The foundation working on the library had previously considered Florida International University, also in Miami, as well as Florida Atlantic University — which is closer to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club where he spends weekends during the fall and winter.
The land being turned over is currently a parking lot adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower, which was once a processing center for Cuban refugees and recently underwent a major renovation. DeSantis touted the fact that the library will be associated with Miami Dade College, while Uthmeier said it made sense to locate it in Miami.
“President Trump has a great story to tell,” Uthmeier said. “As Miami becomes capital of the world in many respects, I think it will be a great location.”
That echoes the sentiment of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who said placing the library in Miami would “cement Miami’s role as a gateway for ideas, culture and leadership that shape the future” and allow Miami to take “its rightful place as a truly great global city.”

“Donald Trump’s library, in many ways, was a natural fit for New York City given his history there, given how he became famous in real estate and The Apprentice,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said.
“And yet, they treated him horribly,” he added.
“So I think the fact that we have it in Florida is really a testament to how we truly appreciate what the president has done for the country. But we’re also a state that’s on the rise, and that’s a place you’re going to want to have that library—right down there in Miami,” DeSantis continued.

More from the Miami Herald:
The acquisition of the 2.6-acre site at the gateway to PortMiami is a relative coup for the president, whose team has discussed building a hotel to go with his library.
Where other developers tried and failed to get the college to let them develop the property over the past two decades, Trump’s team got the land for free without providing site plans, renderings or any public debate.
“It’s one of the most important skyscraper sites left in downtown Miami,” said developer Gregg Covin, who has previously pitched developments on the land to Miami Dade College. The property is valued around $67 million by the Miami-Dade Property Appraiser, but Covin guessed it is probably worth between $200 million and $300 million on the open market.
The only restriction on the land transfer is that the president’s team begins work on “a Presidential library, museum, and/or center” within five years, leaving the door open for a wide scope of options.
