HEARTWARMING: Vice President JD Vance Shares Awesome Moment With Student Who Skipped School

Vance, while speaking in Concord, North Carolina, invited a young student on stage after Vance learned he had skipped school to hear the Vice President speak.

WCNC provided more context to the moment:

Much of Vice President JD Vance’s speech in Concord was about the Trump administration’s commitment to public safety, blaming Democratic policies for the murder of Iryna Zarutska and explaining how the White House says its policies will improve the lives of working Americans.

However, for a moment, the serious remarks took a lighthearted turn when Vance was fielding questions from the audience. A young man named Henry spoke up, getting Vance’s attention as he was calling on reporters. Rather than asking about any policies or laws, Henry had a different kind of request.

“I skipped school today. I was wondering if I could get a picture with you?” Henry asked.

Vance and his supporters erupted in laughter at Henry’s confession. Ultimately, Vance decided there was only one thing to do about it.

“Henry said, ‘I skipped school can I have a picture with you?'” Vance said. “Well, I guess you gotta have some excuse to skip school, so I might as well get a photo with Henry.”

Vance welcomed the teen on stage, taking a selfie as the crowd cheered. Vance quipped the next question would be a similar request.

“I wish I got questions that easy, but I’m not holding out hope,” Vance said.

Vance also discussed the benefits of the Big Beautiful Bill:

Vance later spoke on a more serious tone and spoke of the brutal death of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, who was killed on a light rail train earlier in the month.

WRAL provided more on Vance’s visit to North Carolina:

Vice President JD Vance visited the Charlotte area Wednesday to discuss public safety as North Carolina lawmakers push forward with a variety of proposals on criminal law.

Vance’s visit to Concord comes weeks after 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska was fatally stabbed on a commuter train in August.

“The footage of Iryna getting stabbed to death is very hard to watch,” Vance said.

Vance said he hasn’t watched the full video of the stabbing.

“I actually had to cover my eyes for part of it because it is so gruesome,” Vance said. “Maybe I should just stare at it.

“Maybe all of us should just stare at it to know the kind of evil that we are confronting because what happened to her is really, really disgusting, and I think it comes from a deep and dark and evil place that exists.”

A day before Vance’s visit, North Carolina legislators passed “Iryna’s Law,” which makes it easier for judges to keep suspects in jail or put them in the hospital if they have a history of criminal behavior or mental illness. The Republican-backed bill also could help restart executions in the state.
