UPDATE: Authorities Release Identity And Charges For Armed Man Arrested At Charlie Kirk Memorial Venue

We have an update for you.

As the WLT Report previously reported on Saturday morning, an armed man with a gun and a knife was arrested inside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where Charlie Kirk’s memorial will be held.

Secret Service agents detained the man after he exhibited “suspicious behavior” and was later arrested after he claimed to be a law enforcement officer.

The man has been identified as Joshua Runkles and has since been charged and booked into the Maricopa County jail.

Fox News provided the latest update:

Arizona officials announced charges Saturday against the man the Secret Service said was carrying a gun and knife inside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Friday.

The NFL stadium is where Charlie Kirk’s memorial event is set to take place Sunday. Joshua Runkles was charged Saturday with impersonating a law enforcement officer – a felony – and carrying a weapon into a prohibited place, which is a misdemeanor, a spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

Runkles was released on bond after being booked into the Maricopa County Jail, officials said.

“An investigation is ongoing to determine his intent and purpose at the stadium,” the spokesman said.

AZ Central covered Runkles arrest too:

Runkles was taken into custody by DPS and booked into a Maricopa County jail on charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and bringing a weapon into a restricted area, according to Graves.

“An investigation is ongoing to determine his intent and purpose at the stadium,” Graves said in an emailed statement.

Runkles had since been released on bond, according to Graves.

William Mack, special agent in charge of the U.S. Secret Service’s Phoenix office, confirmed that Runkles was not a law enforcement officer and was armed at the time of his arrest by DPS.
