FBI Director Kash Patel has revealed that the suspected killer of Charlie Kirk left a note before he allegedly assassinated Charlie Kirk.
In an exclusive interview on Fox News, FBI Director Kash Patel has revealed that the accused killer of Charlie Kirk wrote a note stating that he had the opportunity to “take out” Charlie Kirk.
The note was left days before the shooting took place, and it has since been destroyed.
Newsweek was the first to report on the note left by Robinson:
FBI Director Kash Patel said Tyler Robinson, the suspected killer of Charlie Kirk, wrote a note stating his intention to “take out” the influential conservative activist.
The new information provided by Patel is the latest development in the investigation into Robinson. Utah Governor Spencer Cox said on Sunday that investigators are still trying to pin down a motive for the attack on the Turning Point USA co-founder.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot at Utah Valley University in Orem on September 10 during a question-and-answer session on campus.
His death has caused an outpouring of grief from his fans and followers, though some of his critics have celebrated his demise, raising concerns about more polarization and hostility in U.S. political life sparking violence.
Patel, speaking to Fox & Friends on Monday, said the FBI had “forensic evidence” of the note, but that it had “since been destroyed.”
Summarizing the note, Patel he that Robinson wrote, “I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”
“That note was written before the shooting,” Patel said.
Watch Patel break down the contents of the note:
Brian Kilmeade: “Did [Tyler Robinson] write a written note before the ass*ssination attempt… and what did that say?”
FBI Director Kash Patel: “The written note we believe did exist, and we have evidence to show what was in that note… [the suspect said] I have the opportunity… pic.twitter.com/ZF10dxZ45n

CNN reported on more information Patel shared during his interview on Fox News:
Patel’s interview with Fox is highly unusual, as FBI officials and Justice Department prosecutors generally avoid giving investigative details in a case that will be prosecuted for fear that it could damage the case.
Patel also said that DNA recovered from a screwdriver and towel which were both found with the gun used in Kirk’s killing were matched for the suspect in the assassination, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.
Robinson’s family, Patel said, told investigators that Robinson had “subscribed to left-wing ideology.” Patel did not provide specifics on what that ideology included.

Patel defended his agency’s role in the shooting amid mounting questions over his handling of the case and his leadership of the FBI. Bureau employees previously told CNN they were frustrated with how Patel led the investigation.
