WATCH: Erika Kirk Delivers Heartbreaking First Public Remarks After Husband’s Assassination

This is the saddest thing I have seen all day — and it’s been a very sad past 48 hours or so.

Charlie’s widow, Erika Kirk, just delivered her first public remarks after losing her husband in the worst way possible.

And, it was extremely heartbreaking.

Through tears, Erika paid tribute to her husband, noting that he “wanted to be remembered for his courage and for his faith.”

She also sent a message of love to President Trump.

Perhaps the most gut-wrenching part of Erika’s remarks was when she shared how their 3-year-old daughter Gigi started asking her where daddy was.

In fact, I’m tearing up as I write this.

How on earth are you supposed to tell a sweet little girl who loved her daddy so much that he is dead? That he was murdered in cold-blood by an evil man?

While sobbing, Erika says she responded by telling her little girl that “daddy loves you so much. He’s on a work trip with Jesus.”

Erika Kirk: "[Our daughter said] 'Mommy, I missed you.' I said, I missed you too. She goes, 'where's daddy?' She's 3."

"I said, 'Baby, daddy loves you so much. He's on a work trip with Jesus, so he can afford your blueberry budget.'"

That poor little girl.

That is going to be so hard for that little girl – processing day after day daddy isn’t home. She will wonder and wonder why daddy isn’t here to read her stories and to hug her daddy, because she can’t process. Prayers have to be hyper focused on mom and those two little kids.…

In her remarks, Erika also vowed not to let the movement started by Charlie die out.

Per CBS News:

Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, vowed Friday to continue her husband’s conservative activism work, saying, the “movement my husband built will not die.”

She said Turning Point USA will still host its fall college campus tour, and its AmericaFest conference in December will still take place.

“The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done,” she said. “They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s merciful love. They should all know this: If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea … what you just have unleashed across this entire country and this world.”

“The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry,” she said.

Earlier in her address, she referred to her husband as a martyr.
