Two United Airlines Aircraft Collide At Airport


Two United Airlines aircraft collided at San Francisco International Airport.

“United Flight 1871 from San Francisco to Denver was pushing back from its gate on Monday evening when it struck the tail of United Flight 796, which was bound for Boston but still parked at its gate at the time of the collision, according to the airline and the FAA,” Breaking Aviation News & Videos stated.

“No injuries were reported, and passengers on both planes deplaned normally, according to the airline,” it added.

ABC7 San Francisco shared additional details:

Video shows the wing of one plane sustained some damage.

Nobody was hurt, and passengers from both planes were removed and put on different flights to their respective destinations.

“Failure of towing bar of a Tug resulted in Ground Collision of two United Airlines aircraft being damaged at San Francisco Airport (SFO) on Monday,” FL360aero stated.

“The parked aircraft sustained damage to its horizontal stabilizer, while the departing aircraft (flight UA1871) appeared to have received damage on empennage area near its auxiliary power unit,” it added.

NBC Bay Area noted:

The collision occurred in an area where air traffic controllers do not communicate with planes, according to the FAA.

The FAA said it will conduct an investigation.
