Gov. Newsom Violates His Own Law He Passed In 2024

“Rules for thee, but not for me!” – Gavin Newsom

Man, this guy really is a piece of work, isn’t he?

Allow me to give a little background…

In September 2024, California enacted a set of laws aimed at regulating the misuse of AI-generated deepfakes, particularly in the political and sexually explicit realms:

AB 2655 (Defending Democracy from Deepfake Deception Act) required large online platforms to remove or label deceptive, digitally altered content related to elections, and set up a reporting mechanism—and enforcement powers for officials to seek injunctions.
AB 2839 expanded the timeframe and scope—allowing anyone to sue for distribution of materially deceptive AI-generated political content.
AB 2355 mandated clear disclosures when electoral ads were AI-generated or substantially altered.

These laws were a direct response to the proliferation of AI‑generated political content.

That would be three bills passed into law by the stroke of Gavin Newsom’s pen.

Ok.

To paraphrase what these laws did, it’s fair to say they generally prohibited and punished anyone sharing “deceptive or digitally altered political content” — i.e. no Fake News memes.

Setting aside what I think of those laws (I think they’re wildly Unconstitutional), the fact remains Gavin Newsom liked them and signed them into law.

So surely he would want to follow them himself, right?

Of course not!

Here is the “Governor Newsom Press Office” account on Twitter that has recently popped up and is trying (and failing) to parody President Trump’s posts.

It’s really cringe and shows that Democrats have no creativity of any kind and certainly don’t understand humor, but God bless ’em for trying!

And here’s their latest attempt…an AI version of Kid Rock saying he supports Gavin Newsom:

I told you….CRINGE!

And I’m no legal scholar, but I would say this is basically the CORE thing those three laws were designed to prohibit and punish, wouldn’t you say so?
