The search is still underway for the shooter (or possibly multiple shooters) responsible for shooting and killing two firefighters who were responding to a brush fire in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho this evening.

Now, we have a slight update…
Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris has just given the green light to both law enforcement and civilians: if anyone sees the shooter and has a clear shot, take them out!
He says that there are no signs that the assailants have any intention of surrendering.

I am hoping that somebody has a clear shot and is able to neutralize. Because, they are not, at this point in time, showing any evidence of wanting to surrender. So, as soon as somebody has a clear shot, I encourage them to take that shot and neutralize the threat.
Earlier, Defense Attorney Ted Williams also confirmed that the sheriff has instructed anyone who sees the shooter(s) to take them out, provided they have a clear shot.

In another update, authorities have confirmed that the brush fire, which is still burning, was set intentionally in an apparent effort to draw firefighters to the scene then snipe them.
NBC News reported:
The fire that drew first responders to Canfield Mountain was no accident, officials from Idaho’s Northern Lakes Fire District said.
Firefighters responded to an intentionally set fire before being shot at, they said, adding that “ambush” accurately describes what happened to those first at the scene.
A federal official who asked not to be identified echoed preliminary indications that it was an ambush-style attack.
What a disturbing case…
