This is a developing story…

Just a few hours ago, Israel hit Iran with a series of airstrikes that appear to have taken out several top military leaders and members of Iran’s general staff.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement this evening:

Now, we have an update.

The Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Hassan Salami and several top nuclear scientists are confirmed to have been killed in the Israeli airstrikes tonight.

The New York Times reported:

Hossein Salami, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, was killed in an Israeli strike within the Iranian capital of Tehran, according to Tasnim, a semiofficial news site affiliated with the government. As leader of the force, Mr. Salami had helped oversee the relationship with Iranian proxies like Hezbollah, the Lebanese armed group, which had long menaced Israel.

Tasnim also reported that at least three other senior Iranian leaders were thought to have been killed. They were Gholamali Rashid, the deputy commander of the Iranian armed forces; Mohammad Mehdi Tehranji, an Iranian physicist; and Fereydoun Abbasi, an Iranian nuclear scientist.

According to an Israeli official, it is also likely that Iran’s Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri was killed in the airstrikes.

BREAKING: ISRAELI OFFICIAL SAYS IRAN’S ARMY CHIEF AND TOP NUCLEAR SCIENTISTS LIKELY KILLED IN STRIKES

An Israeli defense official says it is increasingly likely that Iran’s military chief, Mohammad Bagheri, and several senior nuclear scientists were killed in the IDF’s initial strikes on Iran.

The official noted growing confidence in their elimination as assessments continue.

Senator Ted Cruz issued a warning to Iran’s leadership:

“If you strike at America, if you attack our military bases, if you kill one single American serviceman or woman, I have every confidence that President Trump will respond with overwhelming force.”

Mint noted:

Israel says it killed Mohammad Bagheri, Iran’s armed forces chief of staff, along with senior nuclear scientists in ‘targeted strikes,’ reported AFP.

“It is likely that the Iranian chief of staff and senior nuclear scientists were eliminated in the initial strike,” the report said, citing an official, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons.

It would be an understatement to say that things are escalating at a rapid pace between Israel and Iran…

Iran is already promising a “harsh response” for the strikes that took out IRGC Chief Salami.

IRAN PROMISES “HARSH RESPONSE” AS REVOLUTIONARY GUARD CHIEF KILLED IN STRIKES

Iranian security sources tell Reuters that Tehran is preparing a “harsh response” after Israel killed IRGC Commander-in-Chief General Hossein Salami in overnight strikes.

Killing Salami, Iran’s equivalent of America’s Joint Chiefs Chairman, while Revolutionary Guard headquarters burns represents an unprecedented escalation.

This isn’t just degrading capabilities anymore.

Iran previously promised “hundreds of ballistic missiles” before Israel even struck.

Now, with their top general dead and nuclear sites burning, the response will likely dwarf October’s barrage.

Let’s pray that it stays between Israel and Iran…
