This afternoon, President Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a lengthy phone call that lasted over an hour.
And, it’s not great news, as far as ending the war goes…
During the phone call, President Trump says he talked with Putin about the recent Ukrainian drone strike on Russian airbases.
“It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace,” President Trump stated, noting that Putin insisted that Russia must respond to Ukraine’s attack.
On the bright side, President Trump also said that Putin is in agreement with him about preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

I just finished speaking, by telephone, with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia. The call lasted approximately one hour and 15 minutes. We discussed the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes, by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides.
It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace. President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields. We also discussed Iran, and the fact that time is running out on Iran’s decision pertaining to nuclear weapons, which must be made quickly! I stated to President Putin that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and, on this, I believe that we were in agreement.
President Putin suggested that he will participate in the discussions with Iran and that he could, perhaps, be helpful in getting this brought to a rapid conclusion. It is my opinion that Iran has been slowwalking their decision on this very important matter, and we will need a definitive answer in a very short period of time!
President Trump’s phone call with Putin follows Ukraine launching a massive drone strike on airbases deep inside Russia over the weekend.
Zelenksy did not inform President Trump about the decision to strike Russia using smuggled drones — a move that resulted in a big blow to the Russian Air Force.
By some estimates, it crippled around 41 Russian aircraft — around $7 billion in damages!
Per BBC:
The conversation between the two leaders marks the first since Ukraine launched a surprise attack using smuggled drones to strike Russian airbases on 1 June, targeting what it said were nuclear-capable long-range bombers.
Trump told Putin in the call that the US was not warned in advance of the attack, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.
Ukraine’s Minister of Strategic Industries Yuriy Sak told Radio 4’s World Tonight programme his country had hoped the US would respond to the “incessant Russian missile and drone attacks” with “more sanctions and with more pressure”.
Last week, Trump appeared to set a two-week deadline for Putin, threatening to change how the US is responding to Russia if he believed Putin was still “tapping” him along on peace efforts in Ukraine.
This major Ukrainian drone strike on Russia was very unprecedented, and the plan was incredibly detailed.
Ukrainians used over one hundred remote-controlled drones that were smuggled inside wooden containers and then loaded up on a truck that was driven deep inside Russia.
Once they were somewhere between 1,800-4,000 kilometers inside Russia, the drones were launched to hit their targets — which included dozens of Russian “doomsday” bombers as well as other military aircraft on bases.

Ukraine’s SBU released compelling footage of drone strikes targeting Russian strategic aircraft on June 1.
The operation effectively destroyed key Russian aviation assets, including A-50, Tu-95, Tu-22, Tu-160, An-12, and Il-78 aircraft. Notably, at least two A-50s were hit, corroborating earlier reports. This impactful video is a must-watch.
Over 18 months in planning, 117 drones, launched from mobile cabins near the bases, damaged or destroyed 41 aircraft, including six Tu-95MS bombers, four Tu-22M3 bombers, two Beriev A-50, and one An-12 transport plane.
These losses, critical to Russia’s long-range strikes, are estimated to cost $7 billion, with production-limited aircraft like the Tu-95 and A-50 particularly hard to replace.
Satellite imagery confirms significant damage at Belaya and Olenya, though Dyagilevo and Ivanovo showed minimal impact. The SBU operated covertly, establishing a command center near an FSB facility, with all operatives safely withdrawn.
Russia admitted fires at two bases but claimed other attacks were repelled.
Here’s an inside view from a truck where the drones were loaded:

While President Trump was not notified about the drone strike, it is very curious that the attack comes just two days after a certain American Senator visited Zelensky…
Guess who was in Ukraine meeting Zelensky this weekend?
Right before today's drone attack on Russia.

That’s right….Lindsey Graham met up with Zelensky on Friday.
Two days later, Ukraine launched a surprise drone strike on Russia in what was and perhaps their most well-planned, strategic attack yet.
Lindsey Graham has officially arrived in Ukraine to meet with President Zelensky, whom he once called "the ally I’ve been hoping for all my life."

Coincidence?
Oh, and, by the way Sen. Graham was quick to fawn over Ukraine for their “creative drone warfare tactics” following the attack:

The ever-resourceful Ukraine used creative drone warfare tactics to successfully attack Russian bombers and military assets used to kill Ukrainian citizens and destroy their country.
Russia indiscriminately kills men, women and children. It’s time for the world to act decisively against Russia’s aggression by holding China and others accountable for buying cheap Russian oil that props up Putin’s war machine.
If you want this war to end, push China to help end it.
Sickening.
