VP Vance Weaves In Jab At Protesters During Speech About Creating Jobs: ‘It’d Be Good For Them’

Members of the Trump administration have become all too familiar with the protests and threats of their far-left critics, but Vice President JD Vance continues demonstrating his ability to handle most disruptions with poise and humor.

Most recently, a speech he was delivering in Bay City, Michigan, was the target of a demonstration and Vance was able to work in a line about it without taking his focus off of the crux of his message: job creation.

As the Daily Caller reported:

“We’ve got this great event, this great facility, great business and of course, great workers and I’m sure all of us saw there were a few protesters outside and I can’t be the only person wondering, you know, it’s a little after noon on a Friday, and don’t you all have jobs?” Vance said. “I mean, who are the people? And I think that’s one of the reasons why we’ve got to rebuild American manufacturing and support great companies like Vantage Plastics because we want these people to get off the streets and back to work. It’d be good for them and it’s be good for everybody else too.”

Vantage Plastics received a $1.2 million grant from Michigan in 2023 to be based in the state and create 93 new jobs, according to Bridge Michigan. The event, attended by Vance and Loeffler, addressed the “future of American manufacturing,” which the Trump administration has strived to improve.

Trump plans to impose tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China, including 50% tariffs on Canadian aluminum and steel imported to the U.S., with the intent of returning manufacturing to the U.S. from overseas. The president also announced the creation of the “Office of Shipbuilding” with the intent to revive both commercial and military shipbuilding at a time where China has outpaced the U.S. in maritime manufacturing.

The White House celebrated the creation of 10,000 manufacturing jobs in February, particularly in the automobile industry, where 9,000 jobs were created.

Leftist political protests have become commonplace since President Donald Trump returned to the White House, including several incidents involving Vance and his family:

The Daily Mail provided additional coverage of the protest surrounding Vance’s recent speech:

‘Fascists not welcome in Michigan’ one sign read.

‘Fascists are not welcome in Bay City,’ read another sign.

Other protesters held signs protesting Elon Musk and proclaimed ‘This is not normal,’ and others simply featured the ‘resist’ slogan coined by activists.

Other signs demanded Trump’s impeachment and for he and Trump to support Ukraine.

‘Wrap Vance in plastic ship to Russia,’ another sign read.

Vance took on the protesters during his speech, mocking them for not being at work.

‘I can’t be the only person wondering it’s a little after noon on a Friday … Don’t you all have jobs?’ he asked with a chuckle as the crowd applauded.

‘We want to get those people off of the streets and back to work, it would be good for them, and good for us too,’ he added.

Vance defended President Trump’s tariffs against Mexico, Canada, and European Union, even though they have shocked the stock market this week.

‘We have an American media that says, “how dare Donald Trump stand up for the American worker,’” he said. ‘I speak for the American worker when I say, “Thank God for President Trump for finally standing up for the American worker!”’
