Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) posted a video to X announcing he’s ditching his Tesla for a new ride because of Elon Musk.
“I bought a Tesla because it was fast like a rocket ship. But now every time I drive it, I feel like a rolling billboard for a man dismantling our government and hurting people. So Tesla, you’re fired! New ride coming soon,” Kelly wrote.
“I think it’s time for an upgrade today. So this is going to be my last, last trip in this car. There’s some things I really liked about it. The things I didn’t like about it. But that doesn’t matter,” Kelly said in the video.
“What matters is, you know, doing the right thing. I think it’s time to get rid of it. Elon Musk kind of turned out to be an a**hole. And, I don’t want to be driving a car build and designed by an a**hole,” he added.

Kelly announced he’s ditching his Tesla after Musk called him a “traitor” on social media for visiting Ukraine last weekend to see how Ukrainians were responding to Trump’s decisions to halt military aid and intelligence sharing to support its war against Russia.
Kelly bristled at that insult, telling MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” that “the only oath I can think of that maybe Elon has sworn is an oath to his own checking account, to his pocketbook.”
Tesla’s stock as slumped since the start of his year because of the angry backlash against Musk’s for leading President Trump’s slashing of federal departments and agencies.
Tesla’s share price has dropped by 34 percent since the start of the year.
Musk admitted Monday he’s having “great difficulty” running his businesses while he juggles his corporate responsibilities with his work at DOGE.
He told Fox Business’s Larry Kudlow he is working to “make government more efficiency” and claimed “we’re making good progress, actually.”
“Just left Ukraine. What I saw proved to me we can’t give up on the Ukrainian people. Everyone wants this war to end, but any agreement has to protect Ukraine’s security and can’t be a giveaway to Putin. Let me tell you about my trip and why it’s important we stand with Ukraine,” Kelly said.
“This war started with what Putin thought would be a three-day operation to take Kyiv and control of all of Ukraine. Now three years later, that hasn’t happened. American and allied support has been a big reason why, but I saw how cutting it off now risks everything so many Ukrainians have laid down their lives for. And while our support hasn’t been free, we haven’t sent even half of what President Trump says,” he added.
“You are a traitor,” Musk responded.

Trump said on social media he planned to buy one of the vehicles. The carmaker’s stock has skidded 40% since Trump returned to the White House.

On Monday, Musk told his 220 million followers on the X social media platform he owns that Kelly was a “traitor” after Kelly, a combat veteran and member of the Senate Armed Services and Select Intelligence committees, described a visit last week to Ukraine.
