While the efforts of President Donald Trump and GOP leaders on Capitol Hill helped rally nearly every Republican lawmaker to vote in favor of a continuing resolution to fund the federal government, at least a few Democrats were required to secure its passage in the Senate.
That happened this week, when a handful of Democrats broke ranks to avert a possible government shutdown.
For his part, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) cited the advice offered by his Democratic colleague, Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, as a pivotal factor in the bill’s success.
“John Fetterman has come a long way. He’s had all kind of health issues since he got here, but I’ll tell you what, he is the only leader out there that’s speaking common sense,” Tuberville said during a Thursday appearance on Newsmax.
