Detransitioned Activist Makes Heartbreaking Plea To Lawmakers: ‘This Never Should Have Been An Option’

As leftists continue to push for so-called gender transition treatment, including surgery, on minor children, a growing number of detransitioned activists are speaking out against the procedures they say destroyed a big part of their lives.

One such outspoken advocate is Chloe Cole, a young woman who began transitioning when she was just a 12-year-old girl.

Four years later, she began the process of returning to life as her biological gender, but the toll had already been taken on her body.

Now, she is calling on Congress to protect future children from the same nightmare she has been through, per Fox News:

“If we want this ideological plague in our country and the destruction of our children, of their innocence, of their bodies, their natural, healthy development into adulthood [to stop], Congress has to take action now or very soon. You will have to institute federal bills and legislation on this issue in order to truly stop it, because leaving it state by state is not enough,” she said on “Fox & Friends.”

Cole couldn’t foresee the regret that would come four years after her transition began. Doctors encouraged her decision, putting her on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones and performing a double mastectomy, telling her she could walk it back.

Four years into de-transitioning, Cole says the effects of the treatments and surgery led to a lot of scars and bleeding. She will never be able to breastfeed her children, and she lives with regret.

Now she wishes she had instead been told, no matter what drugs or operations she pursued, she would never become a boy.

Cole is aligned with the group Do No Harm, which advocates for new laws prohibiting life-altering gender procedures on minors:

Cole has used her experience to bring attention to the subject on multiple occasions in recent years, including in the form of an opinion piece published by The Hill last year:

More and more young kids are going down the same dark road as me, trying to change genders at 12 years old or even younger.

Many are doing so out of social pressure — what experts call “social contagion.”

But they aren’t transgender.

Nearly two-thirds of children who aren’t happy with their biological sex ultimately change their minds as adults, becoming happy with who they really are, according to a new study.

That’s why a rapidly growing number of people are doing what I’m doing and detransitioning.

But they’re generally finding what I’ve found — the same medical establishment that encouraged them suddenly ignores them.

They’ll struggle to get the mental-health care they need.

They’ll struggle to get the treatments and surgeries they need.

And they and their families will struggle to find health insurance that pays for their medical needs.

Instead, they’ll pay through the nose for decades to come.

As I’ve learned, gender transitions aren’t reversible, despite what I was told. I’ll need psychiatric and pharmaceutical help for the rest of my life.

So will countless people who’ve started down the same road as me.

We deserve to be seen, to be heard, to be helped.

I’m asking states to pass a Detransitioner Bill of Rights that, at the very least, requires health insurance to cover the cost of detransition.

Here’s a clip from her recent appearance on Fox News:
