Since their resounding defeat in November’s election, Democratic Party leaders have been largely relegated to shouting insults in the direction of President Donald Trump and other GOP officials.
Fox News Channel personality Harris Faulkner honed in on that fact during a recent episode of her show “The Faulkner Focus.”
As the Daily Caller reported, she pressed former U.S. Rep. Pat Murphy (D-PA) to provide any evidence that Democrats are accomplishing anything these days:
Since President Donald Trump established the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and tasked it with reducing the level of fiscal waste within the federal government, thousands of employees have been laid off from several agencies, including 50% of the workforce at the Department of Education and thousands of probationary workers. Murphy claimed that DOGE’s layoffs caused the firing of over 10,000 veterans before Faulkner questioned him about his party’s response to the cuts.
ADVERTISEMENT“What is your party doing other than barking to the wind? And look, I had on this very program recently the secretary of Veterans Affairs and what they are doing with the 400-plus thousand people that they have yet,” Faulkner told Murphy, who served two terms in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011. “The benefits for veterans are going so slowly. They’re trying to speed up that number. They’re getting rid of people in the chain that don’t add to the benefits of veterans. So I want to look at a harder list of numbers than what you’ve just given the audience to really see. So, I’m going let you say what you say and then I’ll fact check it.”
Democrats have faced similar backlash from various social media critics:
The Democratic Party literally has no leadership, no plans, and no messaging other than "Orange Man Bad".

"The Democratic Party itself is frankly, an irrelevant party. They don‘t have a message. Their policy positions have left cities in shambles."

As The New York Times reported last month, dozens of Democratic leaders essentially acknowledged Faulkner’s point in the weeks following Trump’s inauguration:
Democrats broadly agree that they need to do more to address the issues that powered Trump’s campaign, such as grocery costs, inflation and immigration. But there is little consensus on how – or even whether – to prioritize the party’s traditional concerns, including abortion rights, LGBTQ+ equality and climate change. Some Democrats fear that even as those issues continued to animate the party’s base, they failed to resonate among a broader swath of voters in the last presidential election.
“We have no coherent message,” said Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas. “This guy is psychotic, and there’s so much, but everything that underlines it is white supremacy and hate. There needs to be a message that is clear on at least the underlying thing that comes with all of this.”
Still, a healthy segment of the party believes that a narrow focus on the economy is the best way to win back voters who supported Trump because they hoped he would lower prices and make their lives easier.
“There are people in the middle – and trust me, there’s a lot of them — that wanted costs to go down,” said Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. “Instead, what they see is chaos going up, corruption going up with the firing of the inspector generals, and guess what else is going up? Egg prices.” The fortunes of the party may depend on how Trump’s disruptive policies are received. His announcement Saturday that he would impose stiff tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China added a new layer of economic uncertainty that could provide an opening for Democrats.

Faulkner has addressed similar issues in the past:
Spoke to @HARRISFAULKNER about the Democrats’ identity crisis. They’re melting down over DOGE when a majority of Americans want to reduce government waste. They’ve learned nothing from their past mistakes. pic.twitter.com/KL3S7W1IA9
