Among the lasting legacies of President Donald Trump’s first term was the selection of three justices to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Although that shift secured a conservative majority on the bench, Trump’s picks have not always voted in line with what conservative Americans had hoped.
One justice, Amy Coney Barrett, has received significant criticism from the right as a result. But Trump took an opportunity this week to reaffirm his confidence in her abilities.
As The Hill reported, the president’s remarks came after a vote many conservatives found particularly disappointing:

“She’s a very good woman. She’s very smart, and I don’t know about people attacking her, I really don’t know,” Trump told reporters on Sunday. “I think she’s a very good woman. She’s very smart.”
