The McDonald’s restaurant where the suspected UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooter was found has hired its owned private security for its workers.
On Monday, Luigi Mangione, who has been charged in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was arrested inside an Altoona, Pennsylvania, McDonald’s after a customer alerted an employee to call 911 after recognizing Mangione as the suspected UnitedHealthcare shooter.
Since the McDonald’s employee’s noble action of alerting authorities, the location has faced backlash, including bad reviews on Google.
In response to the negative backlash, McDonald’s has hired two private security guards to patrol the restaurant’s exterior.

I met Larry, a @McDonalds customer in McDonald’s and he told @1010WINS he was here Monday and realized he spotted the suspected UHC gunman Luigi Mangione who was sitting just a few tables away from him. It was his friend who pointed him out #altoona #nyc #uhc #LuigiMangione pic.twitter.com/KumGH71WtX

Here’s what Newsweek reported:
The McDonald’s restaurant where the man charged in the killing of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO was arrested on Monday has hired private security to protect workers, Newsweek can reveal.
ADVERTISEMENTTwo private security guards were in the restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania, when a reporter visited on Wednesday.
Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old Ivy League graduate from a prominent Maryland real estate family, was arrested in the restaurant on Monday after a massive manhunt for the man who gunned down Brian Thompson, 50, as he walked alone to his company’s annual investor conference at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City on the morning of December 4.
Authorities said a customer in the restaurant thought he matched the description of the suspect in Thompson’s killing and notified an employee, who called 911.
A local man named Larry who was a regular at that McDonald’s was interviewed about how he and his friends noticed the guy and discussed him with the employee. (He does not mention facial recognition tech.)pic.twitter.com/BYYzOaTBbZ

Per TMZ:
The McDonald’s where suspected UnitedHealthcare CEO killer Luigi Mangione was apprehended is on high alert … police presence has been beefed up — whether they want it or not.
Altoona Police tell TMZ … they have increased patrols around the local McDonald’s where LM was nabbed on Monday. We’re told the additional eyes on the restaurant will likely continue at least until Mangione is hauled off to NYC … something he’s currently fighting in court.
