Mariah Carey Rejects ‘Queen Of Christmas’ Label, Points Fans To The Story Of Jesus

Americans often celebrate the material side of the Christmas season without paying much attention to the reason we celebrate the holiday more than two millennia later.

But for pop star Mariah Carey, even the most ubiquitous Christmas tune in the world isn’t enough to shift her focus away from the Gospel.

Though she might not be known as a particularly pious celebrity, she recently shared her thoughts about being referred to as the “Queen of Christmas.”

According to Breitbart:

“I’m someone that loves Christmas, that happened to be blessed to write ‘All I want For Christmas Is You.’ And a lot of other Christmas songs. And let’s face it, you know, everybody’s faith is what it is. But to me, Mary is the Queen of Christmas,” she said.

Controversy erupted in 2021 when Carey’s company, Lotion LLC, reported filed a trademark petition for the title “Queen of Christmas” along with terms like “Princess Christmas” and “QOC”  with the aim of using it on a range of products. The petition was later rejected by a trademark agency.

Her holiday hit becomes a common topic of discussion each year around this time:

Carey is a hot topic this year in particular because of a gig she’s got lined up for Christmas Day, as USA Today reported:

The NFL is giving fans another gift for the holidays because the Queen of Christmas will also perform during the live Christmas Day games on Netflix, in addition to Queen Bey’s highly anticipated Texans halftime show.

Netflix announced that Mariah Carey, who is fresh off a Christmas tour, will kick off the big games with a taped performance of her record-breaking hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the first-ever NFL Christmas Gameday live on Netflix on Dec. 25.

And if you’ve somehow avoided the song so far this season, here’s a reminder of the earworm you’ve been missing:
