“We Can Take New York” – Is President Trump About To Repeat Reagan’s Landslide “Sweep”?

The excitement that President Trump has generated in New York has been baffling to democrats.  But for diehard Trump supporters, it has been the logical outcome after four years of the Biden-Harris failures that have hit New York extremely hard.

Today, as President Trump prepares for a huge rally at Madison Square Garden, could that longstanding record held by Ronald Reagan — the last Republican to carry the state in a Presidential election — be about to come to an end?

President Trump thinks so.  Here was the scene this morning before sunrise, as the rainbow colors that usually light up the surrounding buildings were changed to RED, WHITE, AND BLUE… in anticipation of the day’s rally.

On the eve of today’s rally, President Trump held a “tele-rally” with nearly a million supporters, according to a story in Breitbart today.  He called for early voting, and said out loud what many were thinking.

The tele-rally, lead by Stefanik, dialed out to nearly one million Trump supporters to push early voting, a source familiar with Stefanik’s effort told Breitbart News.

“We want to get everybody out [to vote] because we think we could actually win New York,” Trump told supporters on the call. “We’re leading, as you know, in all the swing states, and I think we’re leading potentially very big. We set a record in early voting, and a lot of them were voters that don’t vote that much, which is pretty amazing.”

We can take New York,” Trump reiterated before mentioning the GOP’s priorities in the Empire State. (emphasis added.)

President Reagan was the last Republican to carry New York in his 1984 “sweep”.  In that election he completely devastated in the race for electoral votes — racking up a whopping 525 total electoral votes!

The map of his electoral win is something to behold.  Not only did Reagan take New York, but he carried every single state in the Union except for his rival’s home state of Minnesota — where President Trump has chipped away at Kamala’s projected 8 percentage point lead from two months ago, down to barely 5 points according to most polls.

Could he pull it off?  Can President Trump take New York for the first time in 40 years?  Or even more — could he repeat the landslide SWEEP of Reagan’s 1984 victory?

Age was an issue in the 1984 election, with Walter Mondale in his 50’s and Ronald Reagan was pushing 70.  But just as ridiculous as Kamala Harris’ attempts to paint Trump’s mental acuity in a bad light were Walter Mondale’s attempts to categorize Reagan as mentally unfit to handle the job.  And not unlike President Trump, Reagan knew how to flip the script!

The Trump campaign is describing today’s rally at Madison Square Garden as an “epic event”, according to a Fox News story that is covering the preparations.  It is a “first-come, first-serve” event that sold out within HOURS of the announcement.

The Trump campaign says the program includes political icons, celebrities, musical artists, and friends and family of former President Trump who will all discuss how he is “the best choice to fix everything that Kamala Harris broke.”

“This epic event, in the heart of President Trump’s home city, will be a showcase of the historic political movement that President Trump has built in the final days of the campaign,” the campaign said in a press release.

Then-President Ronald Reagan, in his 1984 re-election landslide, was the last Republican to carry New York in a White House race.

This will be Trump’s second big rally in the state of New York.

Trump held a rally at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island, last month. More than 60,000 tickets were requested, far exceeding the venue’s 16,000-seat capacity. Thousands of supporters who were not admitted to the venue watched him speak on large screens outside.

Trump also held a rally in the Bronx over the summer at Crotona Park, which had a permit allowance of 3,500 people. The New York Post reported the Bronx rally drew up to 10,000 supporters.

Trump previously said New York has “gotten so bad in the last three years, four years.”

“And we’re going to straighten New York out. So running for president, we’re putting a big hit in New York — we could win New York,” Trump said.

In an election that has seen unprecedented republican conversions from former lifelong democrats, who knows what is possibleCan President Trump really flip the blue state of New York?  He certainly things so.  And in 2024, if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the last four years, it’s that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
