Senator Mitch McConnell Finally Folds Gives Full Endorsement To Trump!

Senator Mitch McConnell has finally endorsed Donald Trump as the Republican Presidential nominee.

Shortly after Nikki Haley suspended her presidential campaign, McConnell released a statement that read, “It is abundantly clear that former President Trump has earned the requisite support of Republican voters to be our nominee for President of the United States.”

The Senator from Kentucky added, “It should come as no surprise that, as nominee, he will have my support,” McConnell, of Kentucky.”

NBC News was the first to report:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Wednesday endorsed Donald Trump’s bid to return to the White House, following a dominant Super Tuesday performance by the former president.

“It is abundantly clear that former President Trump has earned the requisite support of Republican voters to be our nominee for President of the United States. It should come as no surprise that, as nominee, he will have my support,” McConnell, of Kentucky, said.

The Senate minority leader was the highest-profile Republican who had yet to endorse Trump. When asked repeatedly whether he would back the former president in recent months, McConnell demurred, telling reporters he would back the party’s eventual nominee.

McConnell issued his endorsement shortly after former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley ended her campaign for the presidency.

Users on X were quick to point out McConnell’s endorsement was severely late.

Per CNN:

Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell announced Wednesday he will support Donald Trump for the presidency, a move that comes more than three years after they have last spoken and after the Kentucky Republican pointedly blamed Trump for the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

“It is abundantly clear that former President Trump has earned the requisite support of Republican voters to be our nominee for President of the United States,” McConnell said in a statement. “It should come as no surprise that as nominee, he will have my support.”

McConnell’s announcement came just minutes after Trump’s final substantive primary challenger – former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley – said she would leave the race the morning after Super Tuesday, in which Trump dominated the races across the country.
