Judge Sets Bail For Migrant Gang Member At $1 Following NYPD Attack

A suspected Venezuelan gang member who was allegedly involved in the attack on two NYPD officers last month was given a $1 bail by the judge.

Not only that but the suspected gang member was already ordered to leave the country last year.

Surely, he will abide by the laws this time and not run away, right?

Well, that’s just what Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel did.

He was released from his involvement in the NYPD attack case, and just two weeks later, he was accused of stealing $600 of products from a Macy’s.

The folks at Fox News share more on the story:

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office sought high bail for a group of illegal immigrants accused of attacking two NYPD officers near Times Square last month after their initial no-bail release caused a national uproar.

The suspects each pleaded not guilty at their arraignment on a superseding indictment Friday morning. Despite the prosecution’s change in stance, one suspected Venezuelan gang member who was ordered to leave the country last year had his bail set at $1.

First up, the judge set $100,000 bail or $250,000 bond for Yorman Reveron, 24, one of four no-bailed suspects believed to have skipped town after his release.

Prosecutors asked for further investigation into the release of Yohenry Brito, another 24-year-old whose $15,000 bail was posted earlier this week by an unknown source. His defense attorney claimed that the cash had come from a bail-fund group of “well-meaning people.” The judge noted he has four criminal cases after being in the U.S. for just eight months and sent him back to jail.

Kelvin Servita-Arocha, 19, is one of two suspects captured by Immigration and Customs Enforcement with ties to the Venezuelan criminal organization, Tren de Aragua, or TdA.

He is accused of kicking a radio away from police during the assault and had initially been released without bail. The defense asked for $1 bail. Prosecutors requested that he be remanded without bail. The judge is considering setting bail at $15,000 or $50,000 bond pending a motions hearing on April 2. He will remain in ICE custody until at least that date.

What example are we setting for the rest of the illegal immigrants being housed in New York City that attacking an NYPD officer will not come with harsh punishment?

Here is footage of the attack:

Fox News has more on the suspect who was arrested again after robbing a Macy’s story:

A migrant teen arrested and released after the Times Square gang attack on New York Police Department (NYPD) officers was nabbed again by law enforcement in connection to a recent Macy’s robbery.

Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, 19, was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of robbery and petit larceny a day after he and three other suspects – who still remain at large – made off with about $608 worth of assorted clothing they stole from the Macy’s department store in the Queens Center Mall, the NYPD said.

The arrest was confirmed hours after NYPD Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry, who oversees security operations, shared Gomez-Izquiel’s wanted poster on X.

“One of the migrants who assaulted our officers last week in Times Square is back at it again,” Daughtry wrote. “This time he was part of a group that robbed a department store in Queens. They also assaulted an employee. Different borough, different crime — same disregard for the law. This is the last thing NYers need.”

“Hey Darwin, we see you — and you will be in handcuffs once again very soon,” the commissioner warned.

Gomez-Izquiel and the three other suspects allegedly entered the Macy’s store on Queens Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, concealed merchandise in a bag and tried to leave the location. Police said they were confronted by a 27-year-old security guard. The four then “struggled” with the guard, and one of them punched the man in the face.

The 27-year-old man suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene, police said. The individuals were last seen fleeing westbound on Queens Boulevard on foot.

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in ascertaining the identity and whereabouts of the three others in connection to the robbery that happened in the confines of the 110 Precinct.
