DID YOU KNOW? The One and Only Time Linus Drops His Blanket

It’s almost Christmas and when you think Christmas and movies a few things come to mind immediately…

Christmas Vacation (am I right?)

Die Hard (yes, it’s a Christmas movie!)

Home Alone (such a classic)

And…..A Charlie Brown Christmas!

Such a classic.

A clear moment of time’s past, when an entire chunk of scripture was proudly read on the air and all major TV networks broadcast it each year.

But did you know that there was a hidden message in A Charlie Brown Christmas that you might not have noticed?

Once you see it you can’t miss it.

Did you know that Linus only drops his blanket one time in the whole movie?

The ONLY time Linus drops his blanket is when he reads the Christmas Story on the stage and it’s right when he says “Fear Not!”

A big shout out to my friend Ted for pointing this out to me, I had never noticed this before!

The Story of Christmas…..please SHARE!

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

You may not have known this, but Peanuts creator Charles Schulz was a Christian and his faith actively influenced his life and his work with the Peanuts:

Charles Schulz, born in 1922 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was an American cartoonist best known for creating the beloved comic strip Peanuts. The strip, which featured iconic characters such as Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Linus, ran for nearly 50 years and became one of the most popular and influential comic strips in history.

Schulz’s personal life and experiences greatly influenced his work, particularly his Christian faith. Raised in a Lutheran family, he was deeply religious and taught Sunday school at his church. He often incorporated religious themes and messages into his comic strips, including the famous scene in “A Charlie Brown Christmas” where Linus recites a passage from the Bible.

Schulz’s faith was an integral part of his life and work, and he was known for his commitment to his beliefs. Despite facing criticism and pressure to remove religious references from his work, he remained steadfast in his convictions and continued to include them in his cartoons.

In addition to his religious beliefs, Schulz was also known for his love of sports, particularly ice hockey and golf. He often included these interests in his work, and his characters were frequently shown playing sports and engaging in other physical activities.

Throughout his career, Schulz received numerous awards and accolades for his work, including the National Cartoonists Society’s Humor Comic Strip Award and the Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year. He passed away in 2000, leaving behind a lasting legacy and a body of work that continues to be cherished by fans around the world.
