WATCH: 29-Year-Old Soccer Captain Suddenly Collapses During Game, Rushed To Hospital

Why does this keep happening? It is not normal for young, healthy men to experience heart attacks.

It certainly isn’t normal for young, healthy athletes to collapse on the field after having suffered a heart attack during a sports game either, yet this is what we continue to see regularly.

The latest case occurred during a European soccer match on Sunday. During the match between Luton and Bournemouth, the Luton team captain Tom Lockyear collapsed on the field and was rushed to the hospital.

It was then confirmed that Lockyear had suffered cardiac arrest and is now in ‘stable’ condition.

Lockyear is a professional soccer player in a European league, he was almost certainly, without doubt fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Watch the moment it happened below:

Daily Mail detailed the incident:

A minute after Bournemouth had equalised in the second half, the Luton captain collapsed in his own half, while the play was going on in the other half.

Luton manager Rob Edwards immediately ran on to the pitch, with both sets of players visibly distressed as paramedics and medical staff from both sides attended to Lockyer on the pitch.

The 29-year-old was ‘responsive’ as he was carried off on a stretcher ten minutes later to applause from around the ground.

Charlie Edinburgh writes: “Wishing Luton Town Tom Lockyer a speedy recovery. My thoughts and everyone connected with JE3Foundation are with Tom, his family & everyone affected by yesterday’s incident. Cardiac Arrest takes no prisoners & doesn’t discriminate, take time to learn CPR & how to use a Defib.”

ESPN reports that this isn’t the first time Lockyear collapsed due to heart problems:

Lockyer previously collapsed during Luton’s promotion playoff final win against Coventry City at Wembley on May 27. The centre-back spent five days in hospital and had an operation to fix an atrial fibrillation.
