Head of DeSantis Super PAC Abruptly RESIGNS!

It seems fair to say that Ron DeSantis’ Presidential campaign has not gone exactly the way he planned.

Team DeSantis simply didn’t seem prepared for this, nor did they bother preparing DeSantis himself judging by the constant public blunders he’s been a part of.

The turmoil continues as the head strategist of the DeSantis super PAC just resigned.

“I cannot in good conscience stay affiliated with Never Back Down given the statements in the Washington Post today,” said Jeff Roe in a statement.

This comes after the Washington Post published a story accusing the campaign of misconduct issues such as leaking false information.

Roe is only the latest of several key members of ‘Never Back Down,’ who have either resigned or been fired in the last several weeks.

NBC has the story:

The uneasy relationship between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign and the key strategist at his deep-pocketed super PAC came to an end Saturday night.

“I cannot in good conscience stay affiliated with Never Back Down given the statements in the Washington Post today,” the strategist, Jeff Roe, said in a statement posted to X. “They are not true and an unwanted distraction at a critical time for Governor DeSantis.”

His decision was first reported by The Washington Post, which published an extensive story on the long-running tensions between DeSantis’ campaign team and the super PAC earlier in the day.

So…what were the statements in the WaPo?

Here’s more:

Jeff Roe, the chief strategist for the leading super PAC (Political Action Committee) supporting Governor Ron DeSantis’s presidential bid, resigned on Saturday night, December 16, 2023. The resignation came after turmoil within the organization, which has been plagued by internal conflicts and high-profile departures in recent weeks.
In his resignation statement, Roe cited “false” statements made by the PAC’s new chairman, Chris Jankowski, about former employees as the reason for his departure. Roe stated that he “cannot in good conscience stay affiliated with Never Back Down given the statements in the Washington Post today.” He also mentioned that the statements were “not true and an unwanted distraction at a critical time for Governor DeSantis.”
The Washington Post article referenced by Roe reported that the super PAC had fired officials connected to Roe’s firm, Axiom Strategies, over “mismanagement and conduct issues.” However, Roe denied these allegations and claimed that they were untrue.
The resignation of Jeff Roe is a significant loss for the DeSantis campaign, as he was a well-known and experienced political strategist. His departure raises concerns about the stability and effectiveness of the campaign moving forward.

Here are more details from Newsmax:

The top strategist for the embattled super PAC backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ‘ campaign for the White House resigned Saturday night in the latest sign of trouble for the GOP hopeful less than one month before voting begins with Iowa’s kickoff caucuses.

Jeff Roe, the top adviser to Never Back Down, is the latest senior staffer to exit Never Back Down, which has been the largest outside group supporting DeSantis’ candidacy.

He announced his departure on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, hours after The Washington Post published a story focused on internal disputes and suspicions between Never Back Down, the campaign, and other DeSantis allies that included accusations of “mismanagement and conduct issues, including numerous unauthorized leaks containing false information.”

“I can’t believe it ended this way,” Roe wrote on X, sharing a statement in which he said he “cannot in good conscience stay affiliated with Never Back Down given the statements” in the story, which he said were false.

This is not a good sign for DeSantis moving forward.
