Terrorism in Indiana? Woman Purposely Crashes Car Into School

The Israel/Hamas conflict has dominated the news cycle for some time now.

Most Americans are rightly focused more on what’s happening here at home though.

An alarming incident that has connections to that conflict just occurred in Indiana of all places.

34-year-old Indiana native Ruba Algmaghtheth was arrested after she purposely drove her car through a school late Saturday night.

Algmaghtheth later admitted that she was motivated to do so because the building had a Jewish symbol on the outside.

In a twist of fate, the building was actually a school run by an antisemitic faction the Black Hebrew Israelites.

Either way, the woman now faces terrorism charges.

Here are details on the incident from the Washington Times:

Indianapolis police arrested a woman on terrorism charges Saturday for an incident where authorities said a driver intentionally rammed into a school because it had a Jewish symbol on the outside — only for the building to be owned by an antisemitic sect of the Black Hebrew Israelites.

Police said they took Ruba Almaghtheh, 34, into custody on felony intimidation charges because the suspect admitted to running into the school after being offended by the school’s “Hebrew Israelite” iconography on the front of the building, according to an arrest report obtained by local Fox affiliate WXIN.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police said Ms. Almaghtheh made the admission during her courtesy phone call.

Indiana is not high on the list of places I’d expect attempted terrorism.

Even stranger is the fact that the suspect got her details completely wrong…

Fox 59 with more:

According to a police report obtained by FOX59/CBS4, police were called to the building around 11:30 Friday night to investigate a hate crime. Officers said Almaghtheh backed her car into the building while several adults and children were inside.

Almaghtheh told officers she was watching news coverage of the Israel-Hamas war on television and decided to plan an attack on the building because she was offended by the “Hebrew Israelite” symbol on the front of the building.

Police said Almaghtheh passed by the building a couple times and called it the “Israel school.”

IMPD said she made reference to “her people back in Palestine” and told officers, “Yes. I did it on purpose.”
