Democrat Representative Announces He’s Running Against Biden!

For the second time in the month of October another Democrat has entered into the 2024 presidential race in an attempt to replace Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota (D) has decided to challenge Biden for the democratic presidential nomination and announced his campaign on Friday morning in New Hampshire.

In an interview with CBS Phillips stated “I think President Biden has done a spectacular job for our country…But it’s not about the past. This is an election about the future.”

Here’s what CBS reported:

Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota has decided to challenge President Biden for the Democratic presidential nomination, launching his 2024 campaign on Friday morning in New Hampshire, where he filed to appear on the state’s primary ballot.

“I am. I have to,” Phillips told CBS News chief election & campaign correspondent Robert Costa in an exclusive interview for “CBS Mornings” that aired Friday, when asked whether he is making a late entry into the Democratic race.

In the interview, Phillips, 54, said he admires Mr. Biden, 80, but believes it is time for a new generation of Democrats to lead the party, especially with former President Donald Trump poised to potentially be the Republican presidential nominee.

Phillips said he has studied polling data and is alarmed about the prospect of Trump beating Mr. Biden, should the 2024 election end up becoming rematch of the 2020 race.

“I think President Biden has done a spectacular job for our country,” Phillips said. “But it’s not about the past. This is an election about the future.”

On Friday, third-term Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips announced that he will be challenging President Biden for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination — a quest that at least one strategist has described as “delusional,” echoing widespread sentiment within the party.

Yet Phillips — a centrist former CEO and one of the wealthiest members of Congress — sounded undaunted at his launch event in the early primary state of New Hampshire, where he emphasized that he’s primarying Biden for pragmatic reasons.

“I am running for the Democratic nomination … not in opposition to our current president, who has my appreciation and gratitude, [but] rather with two core convictions,” said Phillips, 54, according to his prepared remarks. “One, I am a Democratic candidate who can win the 2024 general election. And two, it’s time for the torch to be passed to a new generation of American leaders.”
