Two Train Derailments in One Day in the Same State

Train derailments continue to occur across the United States.

Although no train derailments received coverage like the toxic East Palestine derailment, America’s infrastructure continues to crumble.

The state of Texas experienced two train derailments Monday.

One derailment happened in Bryan, while another derailment occurred near Lubbock.

KAGS provided information on the Bryan derailment:

A train has derailed in Bryan along Finfeather Road near West Villa Maria Road.

No injuries have been reported, nor have any hazardous materials been spilled. The road is currently closed while crews work to bring the train back on the tracks.

According to Union Pacific, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., and the cause is still under investigation.

One individual died after the train derailment between Amherst and Sudan.

KAMC News reports:

A train derailment was reported at a railroad crossing near US 84 between Amherst and Sudan after a crash on Monday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. One person was killed.

The incident was reported around 10:45 a.m. as a crash between a semi and a train. DPS provided an update and said the driver, who was identified as Brent Michael Spahich, 25, of Borger, passed away while being taken to the hospital.

Some of the train cars were carrying a “possible hazardous material,” according to DPS. Officials said five cars derailed. A Hazmat response was underway, DPS said.
