WNBA Team Forced To Apologize After Owner Called Young Sophie Cunningham Fans ‘F***ing Insane’

A mix of on-the-court moves and off-the-court commentary have turned Sophie Cunningham into one of the WNBA’s most recognizable players.

But her stance against allowing biological males to compete against women and girls has earned her a target from the very league in which she plays.

That become obvious when the co-owner of another team lambasted a pair of girls who were doing nothing but expressing their support for the Indiana Fever guard.

Per Breitbart:

The incident occurred Tuesday night when the Indiana Fever took on the Storm at Climate Pledge Arena. The teenagers were in attendance to support Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, who recently took a stand against allowing males to compete in girls’ and women’s sports.

The girls held a sign thanking Cunningham for “Standing Up for Girls.”

This apparently enraged Keaton, who approached the pair and let loose a foul-mouthed tirade, calling the girls “f*cking insane.”

As one of the girls described it to podcaster Brandi Kruse, “Yeah, I’ve never been yelled at like that. I mean, I’ve had people hate me on the internet, but like it doesn’t really affect me as much because it’s just people online,” she said. “But that just took me by surprise because I thought she was going to be nice and then she starts like screaming at us and cussing at us.”

Cunningham also responded to the “truly embarrassing” incident:

Meanwhile, the two girls who had encountered Keaton were sitting courtside. Both were wearing XX-XY Athletics shirts, depicting the male (XX) and female (XY) chromosomes. One of them had a “We love you Sophie” sign, while the other brought a “Thank you, Sophie, for speaking up for girls” poster.

According to reports, Keaton not only hurled out “fu—g insane” at the girls but also told them, “How dare you come here and pull this s—t?” which led to one of the girls crying. After the game, the same girls were harassed by several Storm fans.

On Wednesday, it was reported that the WNBA has suspended Keaton for five home games and levied an undisclosed fine, although there has been no official statement from the league office yet. Meanwhile, the Storm also issued an apology for the incident.
