Amid a troubling rise in reports of illegal immigrants being allowed to drive commercial vehicles without fully understanding the English language, calls have increased for greater oversight over the licensing process.

And as President Donald Trump continues pursuing his America-first immigration policy, he has a plan in place to deal with any staffing shortages that might arises by booting what he referred to as “unqualified illegal aliens.”

As Breitbart reported:

The president announced his plan outside the west facade of the West Wing. The initiative will make those who have driven a heavy truck for the military automatically eligible for a commercial driver’s license within two years of the end of their service.

Trump said that 34 states have signed on to the initiative, and noted data demonstrates “that truck drivers who are veterans account for 42 percent fewer accidents.”

Veterans already account for one in ten truck drivers.

Trump said that illegal alien drivers have long “terrorized” American roadways.

“For many years, American highways and roadways have been terrorized by unqualified illegal aliens, dangerously driving big rigs… You have to have a knowledge, you have to have a talent for it, and these people don’t have that, ” he said.

President Donald Trump on Thursday formally kicked off an administration initiative designed to fast-track military veterans into trucking jobs while removing illegal immigrant commercial drivers from America’s roadways, arguing the effort will improve highway safety and create new employment opportunities for former service members.

Speaking at the White House alongside Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins and trucking industry leaders, Trump promoted the “Freedom Haulers Initiative,” which streamlines the commercial driver’s license (CDL) process for veterans with heavy vehicle experience gained during military service.

“Today, we’re taking action to get illegal alien truck drivers off the American roadways and replace them with proud American veterans,” Trump said. “It’s about time.”
