WATCH: Dylan Mulvaney Ridiculed For Social Media Response To President Trump’s Joke

President Donald Trump delivered a humorous and defiant speech last week during a White House Correspondents Dinner that had been rescheduled due to the assassination attempt against him at the initial event earlier this year.

But it was the object of one of the president’s punchlines who apparently felt like the real victim.

Trans activist Dylan Mulvaney posted a video on the matter, which was soon inundated by negative replies.

As The Hill reported:

“Now, the president also brought up a video I did over three years ago, and mind you, I’ve been kind of flying under the radar, keeping up a pretty low profile, just like doing my little musicals, singing, dancing,” Mulvaney said in a video posted on Instagram.

“And yet, I am still his topic of conversation all these years later,” the influencer continued. “And it seems to me that I might be like the one that got away for these men. Like, I am permanently burned into their retinas. I am microchipped into their minds.”

Trump on Friday alluded to his long-standing feud with Collins and CNN during the dinner in a moment to praise Collins after she received an award for her coverage of his administration. He said she “never smiles,” a remark he has repeatedly made during his second term.

“I thought Kaitlan had really made it big with a major new sponsorship, but then I informed her that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney,” Trump said. “Dylan Mulvaney cost Bud Light $35 billion in market cap. That was the worst commercial ever made, by the way, for those few people who want to hear that. Most people don’t care, but I would. I wouldn’t want to hire Dylan any time soon.”

Here’s a sampling of the reaction Mulvaney’s rant received:

People added these details:

The next day, on Sunday, July 26, the president doubled down on his attack by sharing a photoshopped image of the anchor’s face on Mulvaney’s body on Truth Social.

In the fake image, the person is holding a Bud Light beer and is seated at a table with more beers.

CNN has stood behind Collins amid Trump’s attacks, calling her “an exceptional, trusted journalist” in a statement to PEOPLE after the Correspondents’ Dinner. “She reports every day from the White House and the field with real strength and tenacity and skillfully brings that reporting to the anchor chair and CNN platforms every day,” the statement read. “We stand by her to the fullest extent.”

In 2025, Mulvaney spoke with PEOPLE about how she “healed” after the Bud Light scandal.

“I am about a thousand times stronger than I was before that situation happened. I’m finally in a place that I have healed, and I’m in such a good mental headspace,” the Paper Doll author said at the time.
