Senator Mitch McConnell has released his second “proof-of-life” photo since being hospitalized after being found unconscious inside of his D.C. home back in June.
On Monday afternoon, Sen. Mitch McConnell released a new photo of himself alongside his wife Elaine Chao.
Along with the photo, McConnell wrote that he’s currently in rehabilitation care and won’t be able to attend the annual Fancy Farm, Kentucky event this Saturday.

NBC News provided further details on McConnell’s latest health update:
Sen. Mitch McConnell’s office released a health update Monday, saying he’s still not ready to return to in-person work in the Capitol after his June 14 hospitalization.
“I’m still working hard to get back to my full schedule of work in the Senate and in Kentucky, keeping up with intense physical therapy per my doctors’ orders,” McConnell, R-Ky., said in a statement. “Unfortunately, that means I won’t be able to make it to Fancy Farm, Kentucky this Saturday.”
McConnell, who said he’s in rehabilitation care after a fall at his home last month, added that there’s “no place I’d rather be” than the annual picnic in Kentucky this weekend and “I hate that I’ll miss the fun this year.” He said he’s “looking forward to getting back to the Senate and to Kentucky soon.”
McConnell’s office did not provide a timeline for his return. He has missed the last 38 votes on the Senate floor, according to an NBC News review. The chamber is scheduled to be in session for the next two weeks before summer recess.
His office released a new photo of him with his wife, Elaine Chao.
Many are asking Grok if the new photo is AI generated:
No, this doesn't appear to be AI-generated. It looks like a standard, natural photo of Mitch McConnell and his wife Elaine Chao with consistent lighting, details, and no obvious artifacts.
Modern AI can create near-indistinguishable images, so visual checks alone aren't…

WLWT provided a statement from McConnell’s physician:
“Since his discharge from hospital care, he has maintained a strenuous course of physical therapy and rehabilitation, including multiple sessions a day designed to rebuild strength and reduce the risk of future falls. His bout with childhood polio continues to be a significant factor in his mobility. He is not yet medically cleared to leave the rehab facility and return to the office,” the statement reads.
Here was the first proof-of-life photo released by McConnell:
Why does the text on the newspaper McConnell’s staff claim he’s holding look AI generated?
The text is blurry and the tag on his shirt is blurred.
Also, if he’s in the hospital, why is there no IV connected to him to monitor his health?
This is such bullshit. His staff are… pic.twitter.com/Zy45jeIefB
