When it comes to finding reasons to criticize the co-hosts of ABC’s “The View,” many Americans don’t have to watch more than a few minutes of any episode.
But for one co-host, her alleged behavior when her adult son was facing trespassing charges opened her up to off-screen criticism, too.
Page Six provided this report:
Sunny Hostin reportedly asked cops if they knew who she was when her son, Gabriel, was hit with a trespassing violation in New York last month.
ADVERTISEMENT“The View” co-host — a former federal prosecutor and lawyer — spoke to officers on the scene over the phone after Gabriel, 24, was caught jogging along MTA tracks and ignoring “no trespassing” signs, according to The New York Post.
“They were just talking to the kid because he was trespassing, but his mother made it an issue,” one source told the outlet. “She wanted to know why he was stopped and why did they talk to him.”
Hostin, 57, allegedly asked the officers if they knew who she was before name-dropping “The View.”
The report sparked some social media backlash:

Here’s more from the New York Post:
Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor who is listed as her son’s attorney, declined to comment when reached by phone on Monday.
ADVERTISEMENTBut in a letter obtained by TMZ, the talk show host defended her son’s actions to Westchester Assistant District Attorney Amanda Greene, the prosecutor on her son’s case.
“When jogging, he observed what appeared to be a gravel incline that could be used for hill training,” Sunny Hostin wrote. “Although there was a gate at the entrance of the gravel incline, the gates were standing open.
“The only ‘No Trespassing’ sign was affixed to the left gate and, because the gates were open, it was not visible to my client as he entered the property,” she claimed.
