BREAKING: Armed Man ARRESTED Outside U.S. Capitol

This morning, Capitol police arrested a man who was armed with a firearm at the north barricade of the U.S. Capitol building.

It’s unclear why he had a gun or what he was planning to do.

But, thankfully, the authorities were vigilant and prevented any potential threat from reaching the grounds.

Fox News covered the story in this clip:

The man who was arrested has been identified as 67-year-old Wendell J. Royster.

He reportedly stopped to ask a Capitol Police officer for directions to the Supreme Court, when the officer noticed he had a gun on his lap.

Politico reported further:

The U.S. Capitol Police said a Mississippi man is facing a gun charge after he drove up to the north barricade of the U.S. Capitol with a handgun on Monday.

Wendell J. Royster, 67, drove a rented Ford Bronco to the North Barricade and asked a USCP officer for directions to the U.S. Supreme Court at 11:22 a.m., according to a USCP statement. Upon noticing a handgun on the driver’s lap, the officer ordered Royster to put up his hands, and a team of USCP officers surrounded the SUV and took the driver into custody, the news release added.

“The driver was arrested without incident within two minutes of pulling up to the North Barricade,” the statement said.

Royster was then charged with carrying a pistol without a license and no permit. All weapons are prohibited on Capitol grounds, said USCP.
