Although fuel costs have moderated from the highs they hit after military action began in Iran earlier this year, President Donald Trump remains attentive to the pain at the pump that motorists continue to face nationwide.
As one initiative aimed at cutting those costs, the White House has announced the establishment of more than two dozen fueling stations designed to provide a discounted per-gallon price.
Here’s what The Hill reported:
Twenty of the stations are located in Pennsylvania, while five are in New Jersey, according to the Freedom Fuel network’s website.
ADVERTISEMENTThe average price of a gallon of regular gas in those two states is roughly $3.98 and $3.86, respectively, as of Wednesday, according to AAA. The national average price of fuel is $3.79 per gallon as of Wednesday, AAA reported.
The Hill has reached out to the White House and Energy Department for further details on the new gas stations.
In an accompanying video posted by the White House, multiple customers tout the new gas stations as helping them save money. One man said he was “very happy” about cheaper fuel, while another girl remarked she was “super pumped” about the new options.
“When I saw it I thought it was fake news, but I’m glad it’s true. I definitely couldn’t believe my eyes when I just rolled past,” said another man, who added the Freedom Fuel station saved him “a lot of money” on a trip to the Jersey Shore.
Here’s the statement:
Plenty of social media users were excited about the chance to get prices like the wholesale clubs without the membership fees:
Thanks to President Trump’s strong leadership, we’re seeing price relief at the pump:
Real savings — an additional 50 cents per gallon — at Freedom Fuel gas stations across Philadelphia and New Jersey!
Other gas stations should do the right thing and follow suit.

I was curious how this actually works
It’s independent existing gas stations taking on new branding under “Freedom Fuel LLC”
They’re charging ~30¢/gallon less than before. Margins are thin, so this is likely temporary to build the brand, no subsidy or supply chain change. https://t.co/GmyI1xjLti

Here’s one anecdote, via the Washington Examiner:
Temperatures in the United States might have soared over Independence Day, but a network of gas stations promoted by President Donald Trump helped cool fuel costs in the Philadelphia region over the holiday weekend. Gas prices at the Freedom Fuel Network saved motorists at the pumps in and around the City of Brotherly Love in honor of “America’s 250th birthday.” While the national average for a gallon of regular gas was $3.79 on Monday, motorists in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs in Pennsylvania and New Jersey could fill up at FFN gas stations for just $3.47 per gallon.
The savings were even more impressive when considering the statewide average prices for regular gas in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Philadelphia County. Gas prices in Pennsylvania are much higher than the national average, with regular gas costing $3.97 per gallon, according to AAA. In New Jersey, the statewide average is $3.82 per gallon, while in Philadelphia County, the average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.95. Both averages are significantly higher than the $3.47 total at Freedom Fuel Network gas stations. Given that the gas tank of a standard car is between 12 and 16 gallons, drivers in the Philadelphia metropolitan area saved an average amount of approximately $5.76 to $7.68 per fill-up in Philadelphia and the surrounding Pennsylvania suburbs and $4.20 to $5.60 in New Jersey.
