‘Supergirl’ Set To Lose $100 MILLION After Star Doubles Down On Woke Rhetoric

No matter how many times a film flops after its young, far-left star trashes the very people studios are counting on to buy tickets, there are always more actors who either think history won’t repeat itself, or they just don’t care.

The latest example seems to be Milly Alcock, whose new film “Supergirl” is on pace to be among the biggest superhero film failures in recent memory.

As Breitbart reported:

Variety points out that the film is a “money loser” for Warners and “a major setback for the newly rebooted DC Universe.”

Indeed, this is only the second film in the newest iteration of the DC comic book film universe helmed by lauded producer, writer, and director James Gunn. The first film was the somewhat disappointing Superman reboot from last year. While the film did earn back its $225 million budget with a $350 million gross box office take, it was received to lukewarm reviews and a less than enthusiastic audience.

Analysts say that Supergirl would have to earn $375 million to break even. But projections don’t put the film’s final take anywhere near that. So far, it is only projected at a $300 million box office total. both domestic and overseas totaled – if it even reaches that much.

But so far, the Superman follow up has become a crashing failure. Variety claims that part of the problem is that the film is focused on a “lesser-known comic book character.”

“This was always going to be a tough hurdle for DC and Warner Bros. because Supergirl isn’t a character that has ever created an event-level blockbuster,” analyst Jeff Bock of Exhibitor Relations told the paper. “Audience perception of ‘Supergirl’ was not good. This is just a case of the film wasn’t good enough to become an event.”

Some blame the film’s themes, a recent oversaturation of superhero content, and other factors. But Alcock’s outspoken media comments, including those disparaging Christian men in particular, certainly haven’t improved the film’s audience reception:

The new Supergirl movie is dropping in 2 days and it’s already cooked. Mostly because of Milly Alcock and her nonstop weird comments.

This girl keeps saying she’s getting backlash just for “simply existing as a woman” in the franchise. Then she hits us with “we’ve become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies. I can’t really stop them.”

When people called her out she doubled down like “i didn’t even say men i said people and y’all are proving my point

She even laughs about critics being anonymous burner accounts or “Dad of four, Christian” profiles and says if you’re pissing them off you’re doing something right.

Brother… if your entire press tour is basically “anyone who doesn’t love this is a weird misogynist who owns women’s bodies” before the movie even comes out, what do you expect? Tracking is already in the toilet.

This one’s gonna flop so hard.

Anyone else think the comments killed it before it even dropped?

As TheBlaze subsequently reported, she doubled down on the radical feminism with her talking points in a more recent interview:

She then praised the film for not having a romantic focus, void of any relationship with a male co-star, while saying her character is probably bisexual.

“I don’t know. I think that what makes this film so beautiful is that it’s not centered around a man, it’s not centered around love at all. … She’d probably go both ways.”

In New York City, a reporter from Variety again asked the star about how “LGBT” people have related to the character, framing Alcock’s answer as embracing “queer readings” of the film.

“I’ve just had a few people ask me about her because it’s Pride Month and all that, and I think that she’s a really great representation of what a modern woman can be,” she replied.

Alcock then again put focus on how she adores the film for not featuring any romance, before stating that homosexuals can relate to the character’s resiliency.

“She can be strong, she can be tough, she can be messy. And I love how this film doesn’t center around any sort of love … or romance or anything like that at all. She has such resilience — and I think that that community is a community that is so, so resilient. … I’m really honored that they can connect with her.”
