While most politicians go to Washington D.C. and quickly look for plans to enrich themselves, President Donald Trump famously ran as a billionaire who has consistently faced threats to his assets and willingly used his own wealth to fund important public works projects.
But that doesn’t stop his critics in the media from speculating that he must be up to something shady.
And with new reports highlighting lucrative investments in crypto, the president felt the need to address some of the associated speculation.
As The Hill reported:
“I don’t get involved in my personal. We have funds that run my money,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews, Md., ahead of his trip to North Dakota, when asked what message the disclosures send to average Americans.
When pressed on whether he was benefiting from the ventures, the president said, “I made a lot of money before I became president.”
Trump went on to say the financial institutions that handle his personal finances create a “blind account,” and he “purposefully” does not speak to anyone involved in handling those funds.
“They invest my money. I don’t talk to them. I don’t even speak to them,” he said during the gaggle. “So, I have many people, I don’t know what they call them, closed accounts or something, you put their money and that’s it. I don’t talk to them. They’re big institutions, and they run it.”
His critics attempted to make political hay out of the response, but commenters were quick to put the entire saga in perspective:
He's not running his businesses, but they're still going. Did you expect him to close all his businesses because he's president? I mean, sorry all the previous ones were unemployed.

Bitter libtards because you aren’t one of the 65% of Americans who own stocks and seen our portfolios increase greatly. Maybe you should follow our lead and invest in the stock market and your future. Better than being envious.

I thought he "was a threat to our Democracy". Now since he obviously was nothing of the sort he is a "scam artist"

CNBC added these details:
Asked to respond to critics accusing him of profiting off the presidency, Trump said, “Well, you know why I’m profiting is the stock market’s going up, everybody’s profiting.”
According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, 54.4% of Americans are invested in the stock market.
“So we’re all profiting. I’m profiting because I have a lot of money and a lot of cash, and I give it to institutions,” Trump said. “I don’t know if they know what they’re doing or not, but they buy a vast array of things.”
