NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani BLASTED After Telling New Yorkers to Set Thermostats at 78°

Communist NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani is getting absolutely slammed on social media after demanding that New Yorkers up their thermostats to 78° in the middle of summer.

New York is expected to experience extremely hot weather this weekend (in July, shocker!) and so, Mayor Mamdani is calling on residents to “do their part” to avoid overloading the city’s power grid.

New York: it’s hot out there, and the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool.

Set your AC to 78 degrees, turn off lights/electronics you’re not using, and unplug what you can.

Our City is doing its part too: maintaining the 78 degrees rule in our buildings, dimming/turning off our lights during peak electricity demand, asking private partners to do the same, and powering down non-essential equipment.

A stable grid means the AC stays on, and lives are saved. Let’s ease demand — and get through the heat — together.

A NYC press release also ordered businesses in New York to keep their ACs at 78° to lower energy consumption:

The City is asking every business and every New Yorker to do their part in protecting energy grid reliability by setting their thermostats to 78 degrees and holding off on running major appliances until early morning or late at night. The City has also worked with the Times Square Alliance to request sign operators to lower energy consumption by reducing brightness.
