Fox News provided the full scoop on the terrifying moment:

A woman walking her dog in a wooded area in Canada recently found herself stalked by a large bear, according to a tense viral video she shot on her phone.

Despite the woman repeatedly shouting at the bear “No! Go away” and making loud noises to scare it away, it continued to follow her down the road.

After at first slowly moving toward her, the bear suddenly started charging, circling her as she kept backing away and screaming for it to leave them alone.

For nearly two agonizing minutes, the bear runs toward her then backs away, rearing up on its hind legs several times, revealing its massive size.

She was finally able to distract the bear by throwing what appeared to be her water bottle behind a gate. The video ends as she races away after the bear went to investigate what she had thrown.

The woman had just grabbed her morning coffee and was only planning to go for a short walk with her dog near where she was camping with others when the encounter happened, according to Wilderness Escape Adventures in Alberta, which said on TikTok they interviewed the woman.

In April a hiker in Los Angeles also faced a close encounter with a bear.

The New York Post provided further details on the hiker’s encounter with the bear:

A terrifying video shows a large brown bear charging toward a Southern California hiker in Angeles National Forest, as the man makes the unusual decision to move toward the animal.

In the video, a man dressed in hiking gear and wearing a hat is seen walking toward the bear—not away—and shaking bells in an apparent attempt to scare it off.

Instead, the agitated animal appears to charge toward him before the video cuts off. The close, face-to-face encounter—just feet apart—was captured by another hiker nearby.

“I was thinking this guy is crazy, and I hope nothing happens to him,” Erin Chiu, who recorded the video, told NBCLA.

“I’m not sure what was going through his mind, to be honest, because the last thing you would expect is for someone to actually walk toward a bear. At that point, I was a little concerned for his safety.”

Chiu told the network he hikes the same trail at least three times a week for about 10 miles each time and had never seen a bear there until now.

The hiker was eventually able to slowly back away as the bear moved toward him. Experts say the most important thing to remember if you encounter a bear is simple: do not run.
