Just because New York Attorney General Letitia James seems to consider President Donald Trump her personal enemy doesn’t mean she thinks New York City’s socialist mayor has the right solution.
In a recent cable news interview, James took aim at Zohran Mamdani, whose far-left picks for public office were successful in this week’s primary.
Per The Hill:
“Some of the candidates that he has supported are individuals who do not understand the politics of New York City, the cultural differences from district to district, who have not been part of the history and the struggle of some of these districts, and are relatively new to the body politic,” James told CNN.
ADVERTISEMENTThe New York Attorney General said some of the Mamdani-backed candidates don’t understand the issues of race and class, per the outlet.
Mamdani’s influence in New York elections was present in state and congressional primaries, with Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier winning House races against incumbents, in addition to two state Senate and four Assembly race victories.
James said other political colleagues have expressed that they are “disappointed” in Mamdani’s push to change the party.
Her remarks sparked some discussion on social media:
RIP Democratic Party.
The DSA is like a parasite that has hijacked and taken control over its host organism.

Corrupt @NewYorkStateAG James is wrong again. MAGA didn't blow up the GOP, it returned the party to its conservative roots, no longer bowing & kowtowing to #DemoKKKrats. Meanwhile, #DemoKKKrats on their "Orange Man Bad!" crusade lost their party to Commies and Islamofascists.

When their voice of reason is Leiticia James, you know the Democratic Party has gone off the deep end.

Here’s some additional coverage from Just the News:
“All of us are a little frustrated with the Democratic Party,” she continued. “But you don’t blow it up. That’s what MAGA has done.”
The comment comes as Democrats struggle to unite behind candidates and policies after President Donald Trump defeated former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024.
ADVERTISEMENTMamdani celebrated his successful endorsements after the polls closed, claiming it was proof that his election last year was not a fluke and it means the city could see real change.
“We are showing that last June, a year ago tomorrow, was not an anomaly,” Mamdani said. “It was not the end. It was the beginning.”
And James isn’t the only Democrat with a harsh assessment of Mamdani’s impact on the party:
