Professional sports have become largely beholden to the whims of leftist activists in recent years, thus proliferating the narrative that President Donald Trump is a threat to the nation.
That’s why it’s refreshing to millions of real Americans when someone bucks the trend and pays a little respect to the White House, whether they support Trump or not.
And after a series of snubs by teams across leagues, Trump’s hometown team will be paying him a visit at home after securing their first national championship in decades.
As The Hill reported:
The New York Knicks have accepted an invitation to visit the White House following their historic NBA championship victory, team owner James Dolan confirmed on Wednesday.
Dolan, who is a longtime friend of Trump’s, announced the visit in an interview on WFAN sports radio, saying he had accepted the invitation from Trump and planned to bring the team to Washington.
“We just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted. We still have to figure out the details, etcetera.” He continued: “Look, I invited the president to come down for the game. He is a friend. I’ve known him for 30 years, and I’m very proud to bring the team to the White House.”
The news sparked some social media interest:
I love that they will be decent Americans and accept the offer to attend the WH.

Yahoo Sports also reported on the team’s upcoming visit:
During the NBA Finals, Trump became the first sitting president to attend a Finals game with his appearance at Game 3, the Knicks’ only loss in a five-game win over the San Antonio Spurs. He was greeted at Madison Square Garden with loud boos from Knicks fans, who had to arrive early to go through TSA-style security for New York’s first Finals game this century.
Trump spent the game seated next to Dolan behind bulletproof glass in the owner’s suite. Dolan has since insisted Trump did not fall asleep during the game despite a viral video appearing to show the contrary.
ADVERTISEMENTIt remains unclear how much of the Knicks organization will actually go to the White House. No NBA team has visited Trump during either of his two terms, as many of the league’s big names have spoken out against the president or have otherwise declined to attend.
Here’s a recap of some of the debate over Trump’s decision to attend Game 3:
