As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, its far-left celebrity class is doing everything imaginable to drag America’s name through the mud one more time.
And washed-up actor Richard Gere appears to be at the forefront of that effort after traveling all the way to Germany so he could bad-mouth the USA.
Breitbart provided this report:
During his speech on Thursday, Gere went on to admit he is “deeply ashamed” of the “alien” language used by the Trump administration and Republican lawmakers — falsely implying that this is the first time it has ever been used.
ADVERTISEMENT“Somehow, in today’s debates, we often speak about migrants, about refugees, as if they were different from us,” the Chicago star said.
“I’m deeply ashamed of this, I want you to know,” Gere added. “They belong to another category of human beings, as if their hopes and fears and aspirations were somehow less legitimate than our own.”
Gere — who fled the U.S. for Madrid, Spain, in late 2024 — then bizarrely compared the issue of illegal immigration to his family’s own migration story, which occurred before the United States even existed.
The actor reportedly said his own family history involves “four of five people on the Mayflower” — the British ship carrying Pilgrims who arrived in Massachusetts in the 1600s, more than a century before the United States was founded.
Here’s a clip of his remarks:
Richard Gere says he’s “deeply ashamed” of the U.S. government for calling migrants “aliens.”
“Apparently the U.S. government is calling aliens. That’s the latest. It had been vermin now it’s aliens. I’m deeply ashamed of this I want you to know.” pic.twitter.com/khoYog14k7

Naturally, the long-controversial actor opened himself up to widespread social media mockery:
Hahahaha! Unlike Gere Trump never had to have a gerbil removed from his ass! And he’s ashamed of the US? Hahahahaha!

And we should listen to him because he can learn lines and ages well?

The Hill also covered his remarks:
The “Pretty Woman” actor has been an outspoken critic against the president for years. Earlier this week, he called Trump a “maniac” while speaking at the Oslo Freedom Forum in Norway. He referenced a recent trip he took to Dachau, one of the concentration camps used by the Nazis during the Holocaust, The Washington Times reported.
“We have to see the cues — this dictatorship of the monsters — how quickly it happens,” Gere said.
Gere also blasted Trump as a “bully” and a “thug” while giving an acceptance speech at the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain’s Goya Awards in February 2025. He referred to the topic of authoritarianism and warned that it could happen anywhere.
“Authoritarianism takes us all over,” Gere said. “We have to be vigilant, we have to be alert, we have to be energetic. We have to be brave. We have to be courageous.”
Here’s another recent clip of his anti-Trump ramblings abroad:
Richard Gere on Trump: “We’re living in the darkest moment that I’ve experienced on this planet. Whoever thought America could turn like this? Whoever thought that a maniac like this would be president and dismantle all the good things? America’s never been a perfect place, but… pic.twitter.com/FiHtplej5N
