Secretary of State Marco Rubio returned to the Capitol on Wednesday.
Rubio was at the Capitol to testify before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, but during one part of the hearing, a Democrat lawmaker lashed out at Rubio and stormed out of the hearing.
During the hearing, Democrat Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove began to raise her voice, accusing the Trump administration of corruption.
Kamlager-Dove later left the hearing to which Rubio responded: “Thank you for coming.”

Mediaite provided further context of the incident:
Secretary of State Marco Rubio was thrown for a loop when a Democratic lawmaker appeared to leave a hearing after using her time to torch Rubio and the Trump administration.
Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) slammed Rubio during a Wednesday hearing for calling out “corruption” in other countries, but not in the United States as Rubio tried to jump in and respond multiple times.
“I can’t say anything because you won’t let me,” Rubio said.
Kamlager-Dove pressed on.
“It is about credibility… and your creditability meter is on empty right now. This oil, who determines the barrels of oil that gets sold? How many of them? At what price does it get sold? Where is it going? I will let you. The onus is on you to prove that there is no corruption happening. That is your responsibility as the Secretary of State. And you know what? Normally, we would have access to that data. That’s the transparency,” she said.
“You just don’t know where to look,” Rubio fired back.
“But you’re not showing us any receipts. Well, then show us. Do you commit to coming back here with whoever the person is who is monitoring the sales of the oil? Bring them before this committee. Have the documentation. You don’t have this time yet. I am talking about your credibility and evidence, not your talking points,” Kamlager-Dove said as Rubio laughed.
ADVERTISEMENTThe lawmaker added, “We are five months into this and no audits, zero visibility into the contracts that are awarded, zero transparency about where the money is going, and giving contracts with no transparency is exactly the reason why you shut down USAID, so practice what you preach.”
“Oh, she gets to scream now, too?” Rubio asked.
Here’s a longer video of the exchange:

That was not the only highlight of the hearing.
Rubio later called out Democrat Rep. Sara Jacobs for her off-topic questions during the hearing.
The Washington Times reported on Rubio’s exchange with Jacobs:
Later, Democratic Rep. Sara Jacobs of California said Mr. Rubio had a loose grasp of the truth, pointing to his recent statement that the war was basically over, despite the deployment of troops from her district in the San Diego area.
ADVERTISEMENTShe also pointed to Mr. Rubio’s reluctance to say who won the 2020 election during earlier questioning, “just like you couldn’t admit the shoes the president bought you were too big.”
She was referring to viral online photos of Florsheim shoes that Mr. Trump reportedly gave Cabinet officials. Some of the shoes appear to fit poorly, with gaps between the heel and the shoe.
“He gave me some Florsheim shoes,” Mr. Rubio told the committee. “They’re very good, they fit fine. I don’t know what she’s talking about.”
Ms. Jacobs said his shoes looked good on Wednesday, only for Mr. Rubio to wonder how she could see them under the witness desk.
He then caught himself, wondering aloud: “Are you guys kidding me? I mean, is this the Foreign Affairs Committee, or is this like a circus?”
