BREAKING: Senate Confirms 49 Trump Nominees In Single Vote

In a huge move to clear out some of the backlog of Trump nominees, the Senate has finally confirmed dozens of the president’s picks for civilian roles across several departments.

In a 46-43 vote along party lines, the Senate confirmed 49 total Trump nominees in one, sweeping vote.

This is the fourth en bloc batch of Trump nominees to be confirmed by the Senate.

Just the News noted:

The en-bloc vote means that the Senate has confirmed more than 60% of the president’s civilian nominees and marks the fourth time the Senate has used new rules to bypass the filibuster since last year.

Up until now, Democrats in the Senate have been blocking the confirmation of many of these civilian nominees.

Included among the nominees confirmed today are President Trump’s choice to lead the Bureau of Land Management, several U.S. Marshals, and tons of U.S. Attorneys to help restore law and order in our judicial system.

Fox News has more details:

The GOP confirmed 49 of Trump’s picks on Monday, a move that will have installed 60% of his civilian nominees. It’s also the fourth time Republicans have confirmed a slate of nominees in a batch since changing the Senate’s rules last year.

Included in the latest batch are 20 different positions, including a dozen U.S. attorneys, several U.S. marshals, ambassadors and members of a variety of agencies, including the departments of War, Transportation, Energy, and others.

Also included in the group is Trump’s pick to lead the Bureau of Land Management and a former member of Congress, Stevan Pearce.

Senate Democrats for much of last year had blocked most nominees from getting confirmed. Typically, civilian nominees were often confirmed without actually having to take a full vote on the Senate floor.
