Conservatives have faced ridicule and worse from the left over the past several decades whenever they refused to concede that human-caused global warming would result in cataclysmic damage to the planet.
But even as those climate alarmists continue to predict a looming apocalypse, the actual evidence keeps poking bigger and bigger holes in their theory.
And now, even some of the so-called experts are starting to admit some, as Al Gore might say, inconvenient truths.
Naturally, President Donald Trump was ready to weigh in:
“GOOD RIDDANCE! After 15 years of Dumocrats promising that “Climate Change” is going to destroy the Planet, the United Nations TOP Climate Committee just admitted that its own projections (RCP8.5) were WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!” – President DONALD J. TRUMP 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/qd9EulmjKh

As Fox News reported:
Trump’s comments came after climate scientists moved away from using the most extreme emissions scenario developed under the United Nations-backed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
The IPCC’s worst-case scenarios, which included significant global temperature increases and sea level rises, included global crop failures and even potential extinction events on the scale of the dinosaurs.
The scenario, known as RCP8.5 and later SSP5-8.5, projected severe global warming outcomes under extremely high emissions assumptions.
News of the reversal sparked social media commentary far beyond the White House:
Climate change is a hoax and a money grab for the Left.

Hey Kath …… Bill Gates, the NYT, and now the UN – SHUT THE F UP!
Your climate HOAX is over!!! Stop polluting our landscape, shoving electric busses down our throats, and taking away our gas appliances!!! https://t.co/deOJn2nUGc

The New York Post elaborated on the news behind Trump’s social media celebration:
The IPCC framework in question was used to forecast a dramatic rise in sea levels, global crop failures, rapid melting of glaciers, and more, which made some hardcore climate change activists fret about future extinction.
But ultimately, scientists cited data and argued that the push towards renewable energies made that scenario less likely.
Trump, who proudly champions a “drill baby, drill” energy policy, has long been skeptical of scientific claims about manmade climate change. Last year, for example, during his address to the United Nations, Trump panned climate change as a “con job.”
Here’s some coverage of other recent developments that have increased skepticism surrounding the left’s doomsday threats:
