‘At 14 Years Old, Wes?’: Democrat Governor Won’t Rule Out Gender Transition For His Own Young Sons

Just as there’s a conspicuous glut of trans-identifying children among the offspring of far-left Hollywood elites, their ideological counterparts in elected office are also widely open to letting their young children explore gender transitions up to and including irreversible surgical procedures.

One recent example involves Democratic Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, who was asked a hypothetical question about one of his sons (ages 12 and 14) deciding that he wants to be a girl.

The Daily Caller reported on his reaction to host Patrick Bet-David:

Moore clarified that his son would always have his “undying love,” then said, “I want to make sure that I am involved in understanding where he is, how he’s feeling, the way he’s feeling, why he thinks it’s important. If this is a journey that he wants to go down, um, I want him to always be comfortable in his own skin, and I want him to always know that he has a partner in me to help him along that journey.”

If one wants his son to be “comfortable in his own skin,” helping him down a road of permanent mutilation and dysfunction seems ill-advised.

“Would you advise him to wait ’til he was 18?” questioned Bet-David.

“If this is how he is feeling and I feel like I am, I am closely tied to him, I’m not going to advise him on something that he feels is right.”

“At 14 years old, Wes?”

“No, I understand it, but what I’m saying is, the most important thing for me is, I want him to feel safe in his own skin, safe in his own decision making, but also know that, at 14 years old, I want to be involved inside of that process as well. I’m not going to condemn him nor castigate him, I’m not going to kick him out of the house, I’m not going to do anything that’s going to hurt him, but I just want to make sure that I’m involved,” Moore said.

In addition to raising Bet-David’s eyebrow, the comments drew scrutiny on social media too:

At some point, Moore apparently felt the need to do some damage control and attempted to partially walk back his openness to allowing his own middle-school-aged son to mutilate his body.

As the Washington Examiner reported:

Late in the conversation Moore said that as a parent, he would not allow his underage child to go on puberty blockers.

“It’s not a choice that I would make,” said Moore. “I think that it is a very personal decision between these families, and honestly, for the kids that are going through this. I mean, honestly, my heart breaks for him, because that is a weight and something that’s become so politicized, that I just think is so deeply unfair to that child.”

“This is a decision that the child cannot make on their own,” Moore added.

Moore is running for reelection this year in Maryland. He is heavily favored to win a second term.
