Missing Oklahoma State Senate Candidate Found Dead

A Republican State Senate candidate in Oklahoma has just been found dead.

54-year-old Barry Christian was last seen on Tuesday. He was reported missing after he failed to show up at a meeting.

Later, authorities discovered his abandoned truck in a wildlife management area.

Then, today, we got the sad update that Christian’s body has been located.

JUST IN: Oklahoma State Senate candidate Barry Christian found dead after being reported missing.

The 54-year-old Republican launched his bid for the Oklahoma Senate last year and received an endorsement from his friend Kid Rock.

Christian was first reported missing when he did not show up for a Tuesday meeting.

Authorities later found his pickup truck in the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area.

His daughter, Brooklyn, has released a statement to KOCO, saying her family doesn’t know fully what happened.

“Please pray for our family and friends. Our world is upside down right now. We are still not sure of everything that happened, so please act with grace and treat my dad’s legacy with dignity,” she said.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who assisted in the search efforts, and all of the media outlets that shared his information. I know there will be lots of people devastated by his passing.”

Just days before he went missing, Christian attended the Mangum Rattlesnake Derby.

Shortly after Christian was reported missing, authorities found his abandoned truck in a rural area.

While the circumstances surrounding Christian’s death have not been confirmed, it’s being reported that his body was found inside his truck, which had crashed into a ravine.

KOCO reported further:

Christian was believed to be driving a 2024 charcoal gray Ram truck when he disappeared.

OSBI confirmed that a body was found in the truck they found at the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area. The truck was found crashed into a ravine, and because of where the truck was located, the body has not been able to be removed from the area.

Because the body was still inside the vehicle, OSBI said they were unable to identify the person inside. However, a large campaign sign for Christian was found in the area by the truck.

The news release said that the circumstances surrounding his death are still under investigation.

Barry Christian had just officially filed to run for the Oklahoma state Senate earlier this month.

Per The Oklahoman:

Christian, a resident of Sayre, is a drilling consultant with a long history in Oklahoma’s oil and gas industry. Just this month, he was one of three individuals who filed to run for the Republican nomination in a state senate district that covers far western and southwestern Oklahoma.
