Sen. Warren Shocked When CNBC Host Actually Calls Out Her Hypocrisy On Air: ‘Is That Real?’

Whether it’s her far-left policies, tone-deaf social media posts, or penchant for impersonating Native Americans, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has given her critics plenty of ammunition over the years.

But when she sat down for what might’ve seemed like a softball interview over on CNBC, the longtime lawmaker seemed surprised to be asked to defend her record.

As the Daily Caller reported, the on-air exchange took place during a broader conversation about Warren’s criticism of Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump’s pick to be the next chair of the Federal Reserve:

“I mean, you yourself have been very outspoken on this show and otherwise on what the Fed should be doing,” Eisen said. “You also advocated for Lael Brainard and Janet Yellen, who you were aligned with on policy views. I mean, this isn’t that different, you know, with the president expressing what he wants in terms of policy and who he wants.”

“I’m sorry, is that real?” Warren said. “It is not different to just say, here’s my opinion and here’s how I read the numbers and here’s who I think has a good track record? You think that’s the same as being the president of the United States and employing the Department of Justice to bring criminal charges against someone? Sending someone a notice that they have been fired? Donald Trump is not expressing an opinion. Donald Trump is trying to control the Fed. You know it and I know it. And what he’s also trying to do is to control the Fed by terrifying all of them.”

While Warren clearly intended to give Warsh a hard time during the recent Senate hearing, social media users were more interested in one clip that showed the nominee turning the tables on the senator:

Fox News also reported on Warren’s reaction during the recent CNBC segment:

She went on to argue, “Donald Trump is not expressing an opinion. Donald Trump is trying to control the Fed. You know it and I know it.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House, and a spokesman responded, “Pocahontas needs to stop embarrassing herself and simply admit that even though Kevin Warsh is eminently qualified to serve as our next Fed Chairman, she won’t support him because her mind has been hollowed out by Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Here’s a clip of the interview cued up to the relevant exchange:
