Okay, all these comparisons of Trump to Jesus are getting out of hand.
On Thursday, Republican Representative Troy Nehls went viral after comparing Trump to Jesus’ Second Coming.
Nehls made the remarks while commenting on Trump’s current feud with the Pope.
The Hill reported more on Nehl’s remarks:
Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) likened President Trump to a “second coming” amid backlash over the president’s feud with Pope Leo XIV and his administration’s use of religious language when discussing the Iran conflict.
“I believe that Donald Trump is better than sliced bread. I think he’s almost a second coming, in my humble opinion,” Nehls told reporters Thursday on Capitol Hill.
“I think he’s done a fantastic job,” he added. “He’s got a very difficult job. Pope’s got a tough job, you know, got issues in the church, but Donald Trump has a very, very difficult job to do, the toughest job in the world.”
The “second coming” refers to the Christian belief in “the future return of Christ in glory, when it is understood that he will set up his kingdom, judge his enemies, and reward the faithful, living and dead,” according to Encyclopedia Britannica.
Nehls’s comparison comes days after Trump faced scrutiny for posting a controversial, AI-generated image on Truth Social, as he rebuked the pontiff for criticizing the joint U.S.-Israeli military operation in Iran.
Trump was depicted in a long robe, his hand placed on the forehead of a sick man as light radiated from his palms, with a nurse, soldier and American iconography surrounding him.
The image quickly drew pushback from Democratic lawmakers, religious leaders and figures within the MAGA movement, some of whom labeled it as offensive and “blasphemous.”
“I don’t know if the President thought he was being funny or if he is under the influence of some substance or what possible explanation he could have for this OUTRAGEOUS blasphemy,” Megan Basham, a prominent conservative Christian journalist, wrote in a post on social platform X.

Nehls’ comments come after President Trump has received backlash over posts on Truth Social that featured Jesus, per Reuters:
U.S. President Donald Trump posted an image of Jesus embracing him on Wednesday, as a war of words between his administration and the pope showed little sign of abating.
The image, reposted to Trump’s Truth Social account, shows Trump with his eyes closed, touching temple-to-temple with a similarly posed Jesus. Trump is standing behind a microphone, and behind him is an American flag. The original post had a caption that included the words: “God might be playing his Trump card!”
Trump’s repost added the caption: “The Radical Left Lunatics might not like this, but I think it is quite nice!!!”
Earlier this week, Trump posted an image portraying him as a Jesus-like figure. The post prompted widespread criticism of the Republican president, and he later deleted it.Trump, who does not attend church regularly, has a large contingent of Christian voters among his base, including Catholics. He has been feuding with Pope Leo, the first U.S.-born leader of the Catholic Church and an outspoken critic of the war that began with U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.
