Democrats BLOCK Simple Voter ID Bill in the Senate — Despite Saying They Support It!

Once again, Democrats have shown their true colors.

As the debate over the SAVE America Act rages on, many Democrats claim that they would support a basic voter ID requirement in national elections.

Democrats say that they only oppose the SAVE Act due to all the other stuff included in the bill — like requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration and enforcing voter roll maintenance.

So, Republican Sen. Jon Husted essentially gave them an opportunity to put their money — or in this case, their vote — where their mouth is.

On Thursday, he brought a bill to the Senate floor that only contained the voter ID provision.

But, (surprise, surprise) Democrats still blocked it!

Sen. Mike Lee called out the Democrats in this clip:

HOLY CRAP! Senate Democrats were just asked to pass ONLY the voter ID part of the SAVE America Act…

…and they BLOCKED it.

Democrats said “we support voter ID, not all the other stuff”

So Sen. Jon Husted filed to do exactly that. THEY JUST WANT FRAUD!

SEN. MIKE LEE: “Chuck Schumer and other Democrats have insisted that they actually support Voter ID—they just object to other parts of the SAVE America Act.”

“Well, Sen Jon Husted just asked unanimous consent to pass ONLY the Voter ID portion of the bill. Democrats blocked it.”

To be clear, Sen. Husted’s bill would have simply required that voters show some kind of photo identification at the polls.

That’s it.

An overwhelming majority of Americans — 83%, to be precise — say they want it.

And yet, Democrats blocked it from even getting a full Senate vote.

A press release from Sen. Husted’s website confirmed:

Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today brought a bill to the Senate floor that would require voters to present photo identification when voting, seeking its passage by unanimous consent—a process that expedites consideration of legislation in the United States Senate.

Senate Democrats objected, blocking the bill from receiving a vote.

Sen. Husted responded on X:

This is crazy.

Sen. Husted gave Democrats exactly what they claimed they wanted, and they still said “nope.”

In doing so, Democrats just proved that they don’t actually want any kind of voter ID to secure our elections.

So: the real question is, why are they so against any kind of measure to ensure election integrity?

Folks on X have some ideas:
